You really are an idiot. Man made climate change has occurred and will get worse. The odds of that statement being true are about 95%. We take out insurance on our houses for dangers that are somewhere in the region of 1%. It is absolute madness to not do the same for the planet.

well I agree, we should insure the planet

After the week I've had, when my national sales manager walked in, I freaked.

Turns out I got promoted. Got my own store back, the busiest store in the state for that brand. And I get to help out at head office with HR stuff as I do more of my course.

awesome news mate

I'd never eve heard of such a thing until now.

I hope he gets trolled from here to next week.

The 'I'd rather watch FOX rather than that Liberal news outlet CNN' was the clincher. Amusement, anger and pity all rolled into one.

Been happening since WWII guys......Proof below :sarcasm:

chemtrails - another reason souths should be kicked out of the comp.

Tigers chemtrail....

Are you saying we should kick the Tigers out?

Nice! But (and I don't.mean to take the gloss.off!) what does it mean re your back?

Same rules apply, really. This store is a different type (the company owns two different ones). Much less heavy lifting ect

Thanks everyone. Especially stoked about being able to help with the policies/HR stuff.

This made me extra happy. A promotion is great. But a promotion that allows you to build on skills your studying (which is recognition of your progression) is extremely affirming!!

Well done Dani-girl! You deserve it :D

but climate change has always been occurring..

even before the first gorden tallis lookalike first speared a mammoth for food..

You're honestly arguing that humanity has had zero effect on climate change?

Where have I regurgitated anything? I have a science degree, what's your opinion based on? You are the most insipid, unintelligent, gullible merkin around if.you even.believe a percent of those two posts

I'm not entirely sure what your opinion is based on. You've basically just attacked him for having an opinion, while presenting no facts or actual ideas of your own. Hardly a scientific method of argument.

Where did you study? The Fairfax University for Small-Mindedness?

BM, we could completely eliminate all our output, and America and england and france and germany could all join us, and it wouldn't touch China's output. Wouldn't even make a dent. Nothing we do as individuals can help, and nothing we can do as countries can help.

Forget that I disagree whole-heartedly with your opinion that 'nothing we can do as countries can help', but are you arguing that since the problem is large we should do nothing about it?

I have no respect or time for people who base their opinion of important issues on what the news tells them to base it on. I particularly have no time for people like BM who accuse anyone with a different view on the matter of being everything from sell outs to stooges for some mythical fossil fuel conspiracy to anti humanists. It's the default rubbish for people who saw Al Gore talk about Global Warming and decided humans were the enemy of all that is good and holy. I wasn't aware it was small minded to be intolerant of fools....and if that makes me somehow small minded them I'm f**king happy to be thought.of as such by fools

now don't go throwing words into my mouth..

i said that climate change has always been occurring, even before humans came about.. yes, the pollutants that go into the air don't help things, but overall we are just the equivalent of small parasites on a large being..

a thought - urbanisation covers approximately 3% of the planet.. it's a damn big place out there, with a lot of air and a lot of water and a lot of trees, which all do a pretty good job of dispersing nasties and keeping the planet functioning..

this leaves a significant part of the planet that still manages to function without our intervention (give or take a football field sized bit of rainforest in the amazon that we are reporting losing every few minutes..).. when you're doing your flight back home, just take note of the vast expanses of sheer countryside that is left untouched..

the best part about a climate change debate is that no party can effectively be proven right or wrong, given how slowly natural climate change occurs anyway...

It's just a wittier form of BMs assertion tbh

Not at all. I'm not arguing with your stance, I'm criticising your abject failure to actually make your point in any rational way.

You assumed just because it was 'only BM', it was perfectly acceptable to just go the ad hominen route and make no meaningful contribution to the discussion.

I was just pointing out that it's hardly a scientific or constructive way to join the conversation. You literally just waded in, yelled at him for being stupid, and added nothing to the discussion.

I like you as a poster and I know you're better than that.

Ah see, that's all fine. I thought you were arguing a zero impact. My bad.

Well ill drop it. However it had nothing to do with who the poster was. I'm on a mobile, I didn't even see it was BM til I quoted. That particular form of 'opinion' is maddening to me for reasons I've discussed before.

Pretty much. It's all rather pointless. Don't get me wrong, keep our scientists funded and plugging away at cheaper and cleaner fuels, but right now, in 2014, there is f**k all any of us can do about it. The world is far far too big for any of us to have a meaningful impact on it.

How many decades upon decades upon decades of factories and pollution have there been? And to produce something that will make less of an impact will need a larger pollution output than you would ever save using that product. Buy a Prius and feel good about the lower emissions, just as long as you ignore the sixteen specialty factories and cobalt strip mines that go into making it.

I really believe we can do nothing as countries. Tax a coal mine, and f**k all happens. Give money to people for solar panels, and f**k all happens. If a hundred plus years of mass fossil fuel burning got us here, it's gonna take us closer to a thousand to get back to pre industrial levels, if it ever happens at all. But to do that you need to radically change the way of life for billions of people across the world. It's too much, and too big. It's pointless.
