I despise getting anywhere first with a passion. The waiting around for other people/pretend to be buried in your phone shits me to no end. That said, I'm generally where I say I'll be when I say I'll be there, give or take 5 minutes. If you're more than 5 minutes late to anything and your excuse isn't traffic, family death or sudden bowel movement, I hate you.

I will actively arrange to get to the place with someone else so I'm guaranteed to have someone else at least.

I agree with this, but on the other hand I don't have too many qualms with doing something on my own.

I actually enjoy being early. My Kindle is almost always in my back pocket, so I use the opportunity to get a little reading done.

That, plus the fact I tend to sweat regardless of my level of fitness or how warm it is, means I don't mind a little time to chillax before I meet people.

Found a nice hotel with rooms that include an ensuite, tv, microwave, fridge just 10kms from the Melbourne CBD for just $50 a night. Doing that is a thousand million times more preferable than slumming it in a hostel for $30 a night. Sure in a backpackers I could find myself sleeping in the same room as a beautiful Swedish chick that becomes the future Mrs BunniesMan. But I could also find myself molested in the middle of the night by 3 kiwis, or even worse, one Queenslander.

I'd rather avoid the risk and pay the extra $20 a day for the serenity of being alone with just my brain to keep me company.

Nice find!

I was looking for a hotel in Beijing, but most of them were either out of my price range or a fair hike from the touristy part of the city. Given I'm only there to do my due diligence and see stuff like the Temple of Heaven and Tienanmen Square, I bit the bullet and went with a hostel.

I generally consider myself to be more flashpacker than backpacker - so private rooms are my usual standard - but on a budget this time, so I'm in a four bed dorm. As long as my headphones are in my bag, I'll just put on some tunes and sleep through whatever may come.

I need to do more trips to Adelaide for work.

Opened my payslip to see that I payed more tax for last week than what I used to earn a week before tax when I worked in an office.

I just about cried reading Mis talking about his Kindle. Mine has gone missing, I suspect it was nicked. I've turned the house upside down trying to find it. Far more attached to it than I am to my mobile phone.
