Somehow the prick will have one moment of lucidity and come in here and ruin it. Nice idea though.

3 seasons???????

WHAT THE f**k

flabbergasted

must have been beating the wooden spooners - last week.

Doust LITERALLY has no idea...none. Rarely has a side / club been crying out for a major coaching shake up more than the Dragons right now.

Why now? Why couldn't we have waited to see how we go for the rest of the year and make a call?

We had the benefit of an extra three matches with him in the shop window and we've seemingly foregone that and appointed him now for no reason whatsoever.

good, at least we can all stop speculating. Dont mind mary really, not excited but not disappointed either..

Doust has done his due diligence. He has verified that there is nobody else amongst the 7 billion people in the world who is better for the job (that wants it).

I regret calling for Price's sacking mid-season. Worst thing that could have happened to us.

For f**ks sake.

decision has been made, whether we like it or not, let's get behind him (unless he fails of course) and go the dragons.

ps. well done to the illawarra faction

The beginning of the end of this great club woeful decision to give him 3 years anyway I hope he turns out to be a great coach and I wish him all the best this decision will either make us or break us

Wish him all the best as a Saints fan but not happy with the decision or timing

I feel sick.

Easily the smarter choice than the has beens that were in so called contention.

As always, time will tell.

He may not be everybody's choice but now the decision has been made I hope we can get behind the Dragons and hope they achieve what we want them to.
I'll be backing up next year.
('hope" being the crux of the matter eh).

3 games left only.
3 years? why ?
O cannot fathom the timing.

Frank Facer must be turning his grave, we have become a laughing stock

I can sort of see hiring him for next season (I wouldn't have tho) if there are no other alternatives but this is beyond the pail of stupidity.

April fools!

This is a decision I strongly disagree with (Especially the length of the contract). But I hope he goes well. Because if he goes well the Dragons go well

I just don't get why they didn't wait to see what happened over the next few weeks?

Anyone think its a coincidence to announce it on the day everyone is talking about the Sharks?

Anyway, decision made now, I can't do anything about it - Good luck Mary, I'll support you. Go get our team back challenging for the premiership.

Exactly V6. The timing is questionable at best.

What next, Craig Young for assistant coach?

3 cheers for the Illawarra faction

hip hip..

Obviously to detract attention from the worst decision made by the club since the joint venture

De merge hip hip

At least it's not Sheens. I'm gonna go check on Possm

Let's see if he has the balls to make the big calls that are required on some of the players.

3 more years of wasting one of the games most brilliant fullbacks and kick returners at right edge.

Awesome.

I think he has been to an extent, don't u agree?

Funny that my first email to a colleague upon receipt of my RedV email was "Mary appointed for 3 years WTF?". I then log onto the forum and my exact sentiments have already been expressed.

It's all about the timing, just ask Doustie.

Will he be able to attract players

Waiting for Pebbla's recant.

The is a black day for our club.

f**k.

Apparently the club has been inundated with 2015 Red V membership applications.

I back him with this. I LOVE Dan Hunts lack of first grade since Mary has come in, that niggling foot surely couldnt have kept him our for most of the year!

Like many, can not fathom the timing.
Like some, wish him all the best now that the decision is made.
Stability now at least, for a time in any event.
Go Saints.

3 years?!?!?!

They didnt even give Price a 3 year deal and he did an apprenticeship under Bennett

I would of understood 1 year with a 1 year option in the clubs favour for a coach that is untested really. 3 years... WOW... WTF? Obviously our board have not learned a thing.

The only thing I can think of would be he would be "cheap" so if we were to terminate him halfway through his contract cause of shit reults it wont be so hard. The downside of that is it could mean another 18 months of a wasted season.

Price wasnt one of the Illawarra illuminati either.

3 years? 3 f**king years?

I feel sick.

“There is no doubt going to be some tough times and tough decisions along the way, but I will always do what I believe is in the best interests of the Club and team."

Just like you did when you selected Dan Hunt to play his 150th game?

Moved Dugan to Centre cause your mate Daley wanted to pick him there for Origin?

Persisted with Quinlan?

is willie and kasiano still coming

and green in the second row fmd

Willie should be coming yes, but what good is it going to be with this tool in charge for the next 3 years.

I wonder what next years review is going find.

They keep there sexual activities private BDM.

The timing coincides with the acceptance of bans by scum players. Doustie obviously hoping that some might be a peeved and looking for an out of their contracts and that he may now be able to snare some of them as Mary is locked in as coach and players would love to play under Mary. Player signing news to follow soon.

A mid to bottom range team, with a freshman coach and 3 year tenure.
Now this is a magnet for new recruits.

Everyone in the media has been saying how well we have handled it. Unlike the knights, who said they would go to open market and then a week later appointed Harrigans best mate.

A lot of people don't like the decision but to call us a laughing stock when it's simply untrue because most people have been laughing at us for taking so long to sign him.

I dunno if I like the signing. There wasn't much else and 3 years is a decent crack, but the squad has certainly improved since he's been at the top job.

Atleast the news wasn't delivered at halftime during a game this time...

And how many home games at the gong and oki next yeh membership going through the roof

What?
We signed him on 3 years to snare "possibly" Scum players?
Your kidding right Henry.

Who Henry? Graham and Gallen? They're the only two worth buying and they're not coming. The rest are just f**king nailed on reserve graders. So yes, makes sense. That's the sort of shit we usually buy.

Stooge feast if you ask me .

My thoughts exactly D4L . Lets look on the bright side .The other cadedates were passed it and Mary will have the shackles removed to mould the side into a premiership force.

If he wins, I don't give a flying f**k.

Just f**king win.

Hornby & Young to be next in line fo sho.

f**k, you are right mate.

Hopefully they got the money to pay his last two seasons out.

No. That would be impossible. But he did play for Illawarra, which makes his appointment proof positive that the Illawarra Mafia are running the club.

Frankly, I don't think there were any better options available. We missed out on Bellamy and Bennett. Henry wants to stay on the Coast. Stone is staying in Newcastle. Gus won't coach again. Sheens is shit. Brian Smith burned his bridges 20 years ago. Brown won't come back. That leaves, by my calculations (names I've seen thrown around): Tony Smith, Shaun Wane, Anthony Griffin, Ivan Henjack, Laurie Daley, Brad Fittler, Jason Taylor, Jim Dymock. Were the first two available? Are any of the others definitely better options?

Grffin, Smith, Taylor all better coaches than Baldy.

Its clear where your loyalties lie ;-)

Henjack would have been worth a shot. Broncos shafted him too early.

I think Henjak is another Price. Would've liked to see Griffin out of Brisbane, or made a play for Mick Potter.

Matt Elliott would have been hilarious. I can picture him trying to open The Dugan's mind with Chopra. Also the press conferences are always great.
