So... at the moment, I'm playing this game called Radical Rappelling. A free-falling abseiling game made by Aussie production company, HalfBrick Studios.
This is pretty much what it looks like...
This idea in this game is just to keep going down as much as you can to escape the lava flowing from above.
In a particular mission I was playing (since last year, technically correct), you had to free-fall down to the 1250m mark WITHOUT collecting a bonus. This may sound easy enough, but believe it... it's
freaking hard! Bonuses in this game are not sporadic, they're EVERYWHERE. For example, in the above picture, the target and the red button above it are both bonuses. It's not just that I couldn't seem to avoid them, but even if I did manage to avoid them, something would eventually kill me, 9 times out of 10 those purple spikes you see.
So, in the peace and quiet environment of my room, for about 10 days straight, I could never complete that mission.
Today at lunch time, I was in the food court. Now, imagine this. It's a summers day in the school holidays, right in the middle of the lunchtime peak. I head over to the McDonalds seating area (to scab some of their free wifi) and decide to play the game. The kids next to me are screaming in the McDonalds play area, babies crying, parents screaming at their kids to shut up and eat, and all round, a very stressful environment. I said "Bugger, I'll give it 1 go anyway". I absolutely NAILED it. How the hell I managed to achieve my target in a game that requires concentration in a highly stressful environment, I'll never know.
Perhaps 2015 might be a lucky year for me!
