Well, that already happens. Generally less killing involved though. Still, lunatics hardly need inspiration.

Exactly. If we ever do snuff out religion on a mass scale, we'll start killing one another over the colour of our skin or our sexual pref -

Oh...

I'm not even sure it would mean less.

You'd still have crazy people looking for a reason to do crazy things.

I do think there's a point in there that the middle east does need to change, and generally improving standards of living is a good way to calm an area down. How you go about that with the current regimes over the place very interested in maintaining power is the million dollar question.

Do any of you f**kers know the cost for anytime fitness? I hate websites that make you call or go into the store to check prices. This isn't the 80's any more dammit.

No religion means no scapegoat. People may actually have to reflect on themselves...

Nah.

Yeah, it'd just be 'Climate Change Believers' v 'Climate Change Deniers'

Oh, undoubtedly. The issue in the Middle East is that corrupt political parties are using religion as their banner to wave about and oppress people. They interpret (deliberately or otherwise) things in the way that benefits them and their own core beliefs.

It's the same reason why I identify (loosely) as a Christian, but have no love of organised religion. Catholicism is so heavily influenced by the selfish desires of those at the top, particularly historically, that it's beyond a joke.

Catholic Church's behaviour over the years is disgraceful, especially in regards to sexual abuse controversey's.

Although the recent catholic funeral I attended was better than a Presbytyrian one I attended, in which someone was ranting about how all the unbelievers would be going to hell.

As I said earlier, I don't think no religion would equal no violence or whatever, but there is a lot about religion I really really dislike. Not particularly fussed over others following them (till it encroaches on others lives, basically), because when you're only here for a short amount of time whatever gets you through. Plus there are some decent values in there. I just think alot of it is, well, false.

I'm just glad the current Pope is doing what he can to modernize things and address some of these impossible-to-ignore issues.

If the Church underwent a reformation, it would do them (and the people who subscribe to their beliefs) a world of good.

I pay $63 a month at Anytime less $6 for referrals I've had but $63 is the base. I forget what sign up fee was, it's also $60 odd for the fob to get in. Well worth it given when I was at Club Lime I paid just about the same without the one off fob fee and without 24 hour access all over the world

I'm not entirely convinced on this pope, some of the stories out of Argentina when he was appointed weren't exactly positive.

Links? He stinks less than the last one, and seems to have his heart in the right place. Though no man isn't without skeletons in the papal chair.
