I just heard that Nigel Vagana had surgery on his shoulder today.
Apparently he'll be ready for Round 1.

Does anyone know the story behind this?

My feeling from what Ryan Phelan said on Ten News is that it may have been injured last season and is taking longer to heal than first thought. :?

TO be honest Millers, you don't owe me one really.

I knew there was shoulder trouble with an outside back that had been to three specialists late last year, but I was under the impression it was for an outside back NEW signing, Vagana was already signed at that stage so I did not consider him a NEW signing, I was thinking that the talk of the bad shoulder was for a signing we had yet to hear about.

I will say though, that I am surprised by a few things, firstly that they have waited until now to operate, as the problem was obviously known long before christmas.

Secondly , I am surprised that there is talk that he will be ready for the first round, 100/1 from what I heard about the problem back then it was chronic , he had it when signed, and it is serious.

I hope , now knowing that it was Vagana with the injury, that all counts are WRONG WRONG WRONG !

The reason for the delay could be as simple as most specialists are away until the first week of Feb over xmas break.

Morf you posted this rumour after vagana had signed

However: you also said that the Sharks were demanding a player get seen by the 3 top shoulder specialists BEFORE we signed him...triggering rumours of luke phillips and co

Therefore I think you are right when you say millsy doesnt owe you an apology

Luke Phillips did go through a lot of fitness tests with the club again back in dec when the club and he talked again. But Phillips failed the 3rd one and he never signed. So hopefully it was him

That'd be right. Our star player need surgery just a few weeks the comp kicks off.

Fingers crossed it wont bother him during the year and that he's right for round one.

It was more than likely the same injury which hampered him through the 2nd half of last season.
Didn't bother him during the test though did it?

I would say it more important to get the three years out of him rather than woryy about missing the first 4 or 5 rounds.

I have since had an update regardiong Vaganas injury and time out expected, and it's ALL GOOD NEWS !

despite me being told the day after the surgery that orund 18 was his return date, this week the same camp insider said that round 3 is now pencilled in as his return.

GOod news and I apologise for the off the mark return date I mentioned previously.
