He was rumoured to us at one stage.

He'll be spending a lot of time with Newtown next season, that is for sure. He and Sydney will have to be patient.

I cannot believe that Sydney have signed him. He's never really looked a SL standard player in a world class team. If Leeds released him, chances are he would really struggle to find another club over here. Like I said in the Ins and Outs thread, the only reason I can think Roosters signed him is that they have got him mixed up with someone else.

I like him. Maybe if Leeds had found a position for him instead of using him as a stop gap for just about every position from fullback to hooker he might have settled into the team. And as for no other SL side being interested if Leeds released him, I find that hard to believe. Any player who has played in the Leeds side in the last couple of years would have the smaller SL clubs lining up to sign him. Having said all that I can't see him playing a lot of NRL next year but maybe there'll be some injuries and he'll play a lot. By 2010 he'll be a better player anyway.

Tansey heading down under

Leeds Rhinos utility player Jordan Tansey is to join team-mate Gareth Ellis in Australia after agreeing a loan spell with Sydney Roosters.

The Super League Grand Finalists have released the 22-year-old from the 12 months left on his contract to enable him to spend the next two seasons with the Roosters before returning to Headingley Carnegie in 2011.

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington explained: “We recognise that Jordan’s opportunities have been limited in his favoured positions of full-back or in the half-backs.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for him to go and play in the NRL and hopefully he will return in 2011 to put his experience to use with the Rhinos.”

Tansey, who is not expected to make the Rhinos squad for Saturday’s engage Super League Grand Final with St Helens, has started just 19 of the 52 games he has played with the club since making his debut in March 2006.

Ellis will play his final match for the defending champions at Old Trafford before taking up a three-year contract with Wests Tigers.

He's coming for work experience.. the Leeds boss wants him back in 2011.

If Leeds sent him to the Roosters so they can develop him they chose the wrong club that is for sure

Roosters don't develop they buy developed players.
