The Sydney Shield came about because Wentworthville and Mounties needed a competition for their fringe players whom aren't allowed to play in the Parra/Penrith A Grade competition.
I assume Brothers aren't in it as they were already in Penrith A Grade comps.
Heard Windsor president was pushing for it to go ahead but the board knocked in on the head, not enough players as they are already committed to Penrith A Grade
I believe the Bulls are like a "transit lounge" for the Bulldogs Toyota Cup aswell as a Bulls "reserve grade".....I guess its a better quality than playing in a local comp.
