OK with people recently blowing smoke up his arse so much I'm still hoping he will just go back to his old ways and drink himselve into early retirement... However assuming he has actually woken the f**k up I think two things should happen.

First, keeping in mind the man is a total f**kwit, some people think he is a good Dally M chance, he should, as he was banned for a year, be unable to EVER get something like the Dally M, or even the "lesser" awards given out... Just like how child sex offenders can never be a primary school teacher... ever...

Second, he should be used as the example that clubs who take the hard stand, which was obviously NEEDED to be taken with some of these drop kicks, should be compensated in some way... Maybe clubs should have to pay penalties to the club who actually raised a player up to first grade standard... Or better yet they increase the discounts from the pathetic amount it is currently to something more meaning if you bring a player from under 20's all the way to first grade.

Haha it's not as if he committed acts on a kid. He committed some minor crimes, nothing that needs to be held against him for life.

Good luck to him winning the Dally M IMO, cos he'd be one of my fav non Raiders in the comp. Great player to watch.

I can understand this teenage young love hatred for the Great Man,but why wish he succumbs to the disease that interupted his brilliant career...that is just a little bit sad imo.

In the words of Mr Angry Anderson aka (AA)...Bound for glory.

There should be a transfer fee system in place to compensate teams like Canberra when they cut loose a star.

I don't think so. Canberra made the decision to cut him loose, it was their decision to make so they have to live by the consequences. I don't see why they should be compensated when it was entirely their call to rip up his contract.

How much pressure was there from the media to do it? The club obviously wanted to keep him when you consider they forgave the previous 30 discretions.

We lose out due to media pressure and the Roosters pick him up on the cheap and he turns out to be the buy of the season (so far). How is that fair?

Yea well media pressure had a fair bit to do with it, but that would of blown over fairly quickly if the club had been prepared to ride it out.

We do agree that losing him was devastating #-o

Whilst I think the original post was a touch excessive, I think we still got a bit short shirted because we took the moral stand.

Perhaps in a situation where a club sacks a player under conditions the NRL de-registers them, when said player is re-eligible for NRL play that club that initially sacked him has first rights at the player? With no right of refusal?

Would have seen Carney sit out for a season in punishment, then compelled to re-join the Raiders had we chosen so.

When Todd was in the media for his "misdemeanours" the DT were guilty of some of the worst diatribe and vitriole ever seen online.

Now, 2 years later this same "publication" is having a major love fest for the guy. :?

Not pre-season, trying to catch him in any sort of act possible etc.

Did you mean 'to cut a loose star'

I hope he turns his life around , shame its at the Roosters though.

Only one team has tested the Roosters and put pressure on them , they folded. Id like teams to do it more often , I hope in hell we do next weekend.

Since when was drink driving OK? Just because he didn't kill someone doesn't make it less than the f**k wit who's luck ran out and he did kill someone... The Raiders should have let him stand unsupported to face the charages against him... Then I don't think he would have been back a year later...

It was Todd's choice to leave, if he had of said yes to all 5 points in the 5 point plan he was offered, he would still be with us, but he didn't want to stop drinking for the remainder of his contract, and he didn't want to be stood down for the rest of the 08 season.

Thats also known as slavery - a concept that has since been done away with. You cannot sack someone then have rights to re-employ with no refusal option.
