Tallis' claim shot down

CRONULLA coach Stuart Raper last night claimed Brisbane's Gorden Tallis had made "false accusations" over an alleged head-butt last weekend.
The NRL's match review committee yesterday could not find any video evidence to suggest Cronulla's Chris Beattie head-butted Tallis during Saturday's Toyota Park match.
Tallis stressed he was head-butted by Beattie, later describing the Sharks forward as a "grub".
However NRL match review co-ordinator Greg McCallum could not secure evidence of a head-butt and Beattie avoided being charged.
McCallum even asked Fox Sports for additional footage of the match, won 16-12 by Brisbane in golden point.
Raper fired up last night, saying: "It annoys me when a player makes false accusations which create poor headlines for the game.
"If Chris Beattie had done something wrong, he would have been charged. Gorden should shut his mouth and play the game. He's carried on like a 'big sort' for the past two days. And look what it's over ... there was nothing in it."
McCallum claimed to be "perplexed" by the allegations.
"We couldn't find anything at all. We were a little perplexed," McCallum said.
"We even got additional angles from Fox. There was a time when both of them were on the ground, Tallis was over the top, Beattie had the ball. Their faces came very close together.
"Beattie attempted to get to his feet but there was no evidence of there being any head-butt.
"As soon as Beattie played the ball, Tallis took off after the the bloke who had the ball. We couldn't find anything where we could process a charge."
Tallis said last night: "I'm not backing away from what I said after the game on Saturday night but I can't see any point in saying it all again."
