Tame the Broncos: Creagh

BEN Creagh has thrown down the challenge to his forward team-mates against the Brisbane Broncos if the Dragons are to keep their premiership defence alive.
The Dragons will face a Broncos ambush on Saturday night. Despite Brisbane missing arguably the games best backrower in Sam Thaiday (suspension), they boast a monster-sized forward pack headed by Ben Hannant, Josh McGuire, Alex Glenn and Corey Parker.
Creagh said the Dragons must match the Broncos up-front or risk being bundled out.
‘‘Their forward pack gets the team going well ... if we defend well and put them under pressure that will help the rest of our game.’’
The Dragons trained at WIN Stadium yesterday with the entire squad except for Dean Young taking part. Mitch Rein and Nathan Fien split time at dummy-half while Adam Cuthbertson and Jon Green spent a large portion playing alongside Michael Weyman, Trent Merrin and Dan Hunt up-front.
In attack, the Dragons focused on turning the ball inside with outside men Mark Gasnier, Matt Cooper and Jason Nightingale trailing back inwards.
‘‘There has been a bit of getting the ball to both centres at training,’’ Creagh said. ‘‘I’m sure we will see a bit of that on Saturday.’’
The Dragons have played two finals matches at Suncorp Stadium with one win and a loss — including a knock out 24-10 loss in 2009.
‘‘Not many times you go up there are you very well liked,’’ Creagh said. ‘‘Pretty hostile ground, but we’re used to it.’’
The match will mark the end of a career for either St George Illawarra’s Mark Gasnier or Brisbane skipper Darren Lockyer with the pair to retire at season’s end.
Creagh said the Dragons had not spoken about any farewell for Gasnier, coach Wayne Bennett or Darius Boyd. ‘‘We haven’t...it’s the whole team wanting to do well.
‘‘If we can stick to our game plan we will be competitive and do well.’’

Their monster pack weighs 2 kg more than ours though their bench has 15 kg on us.
