Tariq charged

$30K per game i believe.
Source - financial information in a newspaper report on jdb case.

But I'd bet he's more annoyed with missing the game than the $$.

236 [...] Nor was there any challenge to Mr Gillis’ evidence that Mr de Belin has the playing ability to qualify for selection again for New South Wales in the State of Origin in 2019 or that, if he was selected, he could expect to be paid a Club bonus, together with NSW Rugby League payments of $90,000 or more.

I could accept Grade 1 or 2 (naturally, being a Saints fan I'm happy it was downgraded to Grade 1, i.e., 'Least Severe').

Yes, it's f**ked he misses an Origin decider.
Yes, it's f**ked he misses an Origin match payment.
Yes, it's f**ked there is no consistency re Sivo v Norman tackle.

However, Sims made contact with the head. As such, he sits down for a week.

Klemmer shits all over Sims anyway (going off this years form).

Hopefully Cleary's leg is f**ked to make sure the Blues get the 'W'.

No argument here. Although a little strange and inconsistent that he was charged with a grade 2 by the MRC. Also strange that he didn’t plead guilty to grade 1 and avoid suspension. Works out well for the Dragons at any rate.

McGregor reflects on Sims decision

St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has reflected on the NRL judiciary's decision to suspended Tariq Sims for State of Origin III.

"We are disappointed on the outcome for Tariq especially with him missing an important game like State of Origin. It's a bitter pill to swallow," Dragons coach Paul McGregor said at his Wednesday media call.

"We have to wear that decision now but I feel strongly about the way we approached it because we all thought he was innocent."

Sims's suspension applies to Round 16 which will kick off on Thursday, July 4 when the Dragons play the Melbourne Storm at WIN Stadium, Wollongong and conclude at the completion of State of Origin III at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday, July 10.

As per NRL judiciary rules, every 100 demerit points received by a player results in a one-round suspension.

The penalty for a grade one dangerous contact charge – the punishment of which the judiciary determined was suitable for Sims – is 100 demerit points; therefore Sims is unable to participate in the entire round which covers both the Dragons' clash against Melbourne and Origin III.

These facts surrounding the make-up of Round 16 have been confirmed by the NRL.

Sims will be available for selection in the Dragons' upcoming Round 17 game against the Canberra Raiders at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Sunday, July 14. Importantly, the 100 demerit-point punishment means Sims has zero carryover points.

It’s time the club and/or McIdiot spend five grand and let the NRL leadership know that they corrupt, inconsistent, out of touch in the game.

So Tariq gets a 1 match suspension yet can not play for his next 2 games. Dragons game tonight and state of origin. He was selected for state of origin so if the suspension is allocated to that game then he should be available to play tonight. I know why they stopped players using club games to make themselves available for rep games after suspension but this is different. He received a 1 match ban which made him unavailable for state of origin therefore he becomes available for us. If he was ruled out with injury he would be able to play tonight if he wanted to.

Class action suit against the NRL for concussions. What do they do? They make an example of the next player whose actions, legal or illegal, cause a concussion.

Now it is clear that what happened here.
Yes thought the same thing when I saw it announced and the penny dropped on why Tariq was copping it. for doing his job. Nothing like a knee jerk reaction and picking on the wrong guy.

Mate see what your saying but he copped one week suspension not one game.

So the criteria that was used to charge Sims are as follows

NRL counsel Peter McGrath convinced the panel that Sims "veered into carelessness" by making first contact to Morgan's head.

"It was direct contact to the head, it was high, and in circumstances where the player has passed the ball," McGrath said.

"Lateness is an element, but not a particularly importantly one in this incident. What we are dealing with is direct contact with the playmaker's head.

So, the new bar is if contact is first made with the head and the player has already passed the ball, then at least a 1 week suspension.

So, give me your best guess as to how long before this new rule is broken?
Fcuckn joke.

Fair enough, but that would mean he would be available for Wednesday nights game as he received the suspension on Tuesday night.
I know what you are saying, it just seems they make up or change rules to support their incompetence. If you get suspended for 1 game then it should only be for 1 game, if you get suspended for 1 week then it should only be for 1 week.
