I can imagine keeping one. So if Lui or Marshall get injured between now and semis, who is our half back up? I can imagine letting them go at the end of the year, but now??

Boys, Taumata flies out to NQ on Monday. It is done.

I can't believe we got him and did not give him start.

Now he is gone. He may come back to haunt us.

Totally agree,Sheens is a knob,he could have at least trialed him, hell he picks Fitzy every week and AJ has more class in one hand than our golden child has in his whole body

I just think we all should refrain from commenting until facts become clearer.

It may well be tough decisions need to be made to retain some of our outstanding NYC players.

You can imagine with the 2009 and 2010 teams being well performed, retention of these players is considered to be in the best long term interests of the Wests, Balmain and WTs.

Taumata can still be a force for the Tigers this year if he performs.

R2Coupe whilst I agree that the facts are not yet known however it does start to smell of Teflon Tim and his either liking you and you have a shot or not liking you and you have no hope no matter what you do eg Gallant and Head etc.

I maybe wrong but I think its a stupid move to let him go right now unless WT are actively moving to extend and upgrade Moltzens contract. Previous threads here indicate he is not guarantee'ed a slot at WT next year in the starting line up and may well leave. If he Motzen goes, as Taumata has, where is the backup for WT 'traditional' (well, traditional under Teflon anyway) shortage of options in the halves?

Had a Roosters fan tell me the same thing about Moltzen. I can't believe the club would let him go and hope he is retained.

Also, the WTs need to take a good look at Farlow from Bret. An outstanding forward with ability to make one on one tackles. His ball carrying is far superior to Liam Fulton's and you start to wonder whether Farlow offers more for less. I can't understand this love affair with Fulton. Perhaps my view on Farlow is clouded but yesterday he was again outstanding. One of his two tries was a thirty odd metre run to the line beating 3 or 4 Sharks defenders.

Yeah, it seems a pretty strong rumour that Moltzen is not happy with his future there at WT and may well move on to greener pastures in 2011.

WT are blessed with a pretty strong junior base and 2 x State Cup teams sowe should have no shortage of options but we do seem to struggle though with transitting players from 'potential' to 'actual'. We do loose a lot that go elsewhere.

I'm not sure that naming 35 odd players at the start of the year as members of the NRL squad is a smart move. I'm concerned that it has raised expectations and many of those junior players have not had an opportunity to play in the NRL team and with the raised expectations of being named in the NRL squad they may leave end of year to go elsewhere to get their shot. I'll be interested to see how many WT can retain.

Regarding Moltzen,
Was in broadbeach on the weekend and managed to bump into himself and marshall at a club. Shared a few drinks with tim and had a good long chat with him ( which is quite surprising cause most footy players brush you off ) however upon speaking to him his knee was coming along very well and actually believes he could make a return but probably wont. Is not leaving the club as he loves it there and loves the fact his best mate ( benji ) plays there and wouldnt want to leave. Asked him what position he wants to play full back or half back, and as he said im 7-0 with number 7 and he loves it there. I found him to be a good young kid and it doesnt seem that being a footy player has gotten to his head.

Thanks- thats good news on 3 fronts- wants to stay at WT, prefers #7 & has got a good level head.

It's not by chance we are 7-0 with him at half. He is a huge threat around the ruck which gives everyone (mainly Benji and Robbie) more space to be themselves.
This kid has class and I'd be devastated to lose him.
Given time, I think he'd make a super fullback.

If Moltzen is going to be in the side as fullback maybe he is better off leaving IMO , he isnt a fullback..fullstop!

Bulldogs have just signed Hodgkinson from Manly. WT would not want to be tardy if they do want to keep Moltzen- the market for a capable halfback is opening up. Manly get their man.

The only reason Manly would want him is if they release Cherry-Evans to Bradford which would be bizarre as he is a better player. Even then, they'd have to shun Orford returning. Possible, but unlikely.
