Taylor as a coach

It would appear Taylor had written this year off from the get go.

Which is a pathetic argument for someone trying to cement themselves as a permanent head coach in the NRL.

This is honestly bizarre isn't it. Who would do this ?

Can't understand it. You had a good coach with backbone and cut him down.

Think you just have to lie in it now as changing coach again is not the answer.

Give him a full season and some new troops before we crucify him.

What do people expect with Brooks and Moses attempting to run the show?
Was always unlikely to be a positive season.

I am afraid we are stuck with JT,can not see the the WT terminating his contract regardless of where we finish this season.
05, your right about bizarre behaviour if JT has already written off this season, the season is only at halfway mark, it's time for the team to pull it's finger out and not give up,as a player you wouldn't be impressed with a negative, defeatist attitude coming from the coach.

Hard for him to do too much with the current roster. I'm willing to see how the year pans out before I start calling for his head.

Yeah, the attacking game plan has been shithouse, but the defence has been better than the garbage served up at the end of last year (despite some very poor 20min periods).

We all know why the scores blew out at the end of last year .. injuries and discontent in regard to Potter. Give it time and I suspect a similar finnish this year.

I really do not see what Taylor offers that Potter didn't. In saying that he has to be given at least a year before we start smashing him. The roster we have now is closer to state cup standard than NRL standard and although we are reported to have bugger all space in our cap,we have to give him a chance of at least doing some hiring and firing.

Hate the football we are playing at present, but I will wait and see where it leads us this year before taking aim. Maybe a reduced interchange in 2016 will make us more competive, who knows. Anyway out to freezing LO tonight and let's hope we at least try and play some football, nothing could be as bad as the Cowboys game

I think that is the biggest issue, at least under potter we were playing some nice football (occasionally) whilst with Taylor in charge many supporters have lost interest due to the football we are playing. This is a massive issue for the club i feel.

Yes. It is a massive issue - we are actually going backwards at the moment.

Yeah and Brooks and Moses are gunna, gonna, going to be superstars.

It would not matter who coaches them, they're not a strong squad.

I'm just glad Taylor has been given reign to blood players like Lovett, Hoeter, Milone and Cherrington. Taylor has also shown a willingness to tinker with the side. For instance, people have pointed out that once Woods, Galloway and Taupau came off, the Tigers weren't as competitive in the middle. As a result, he started Galloway off the bench last game to help tighten up the middle after the first twenty minutes. He also put Chris Lawrence at second row, something Madunit has been calling for for quite some time.

I tend to think the expectations of Tigers fans are far too high. It took the Dragons at least a season and a half to turn around their abysmal defence and it wasn't all that long ago that the Dragons won a premiership. Our defence has never been consistently good and it's going to take some time things to improve.

I don't understand why Taylor is laughed at as a coach. Everywhere he has gone he has achieved success in some way.

When he took over Parramatta in 2006 in a caretaking role they were struggling in the bottom 4 with only 2 wins out of 10 games. Taylor then took the club into the finals winning 10 games out of 16 including a 9 game winning streak that included Hayne's introduction to first grade. They lost in the first week of the finals 12-6 in a determined effort against an illegal Storm team.

He landed a fulltime role at the rabble that was the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the time that were coming of a distrastrous year that only included 3 wins and had won their 3rd wooden spoon out of 5 seasons (the bulldogs salary cap scandal of 2002 saved them from the spoon that year). Souths were just starting the Crowe era and were moving on from the Piggins era. Helped with some important signings Taylor took Souths to 7th spot and their first visit to September since 1989. They were eliminated by Manly 36-6 in the first week of the finals. The following 2 years were disappointing with Souths coming 14th in 2008 and 10th in 2009. Not flash I will admit but he did introduce guys like Isacc Luke, Chris Sandow, Beau Fallon, Chris McQueen and Eddy Pettybourne to first grade. Guys who have had good first grade careers especially Luke who is one of the best hookers in the game today. His tenure ended in controversy but it wasn't footy related remember?

He achieved some very good success with the young blokes at the Roosters from what I heard and was part of the brains trust that won the Roosters the 2013 premiership.

At the Tigers I will reserve some judgement when the season is over.

It doesn't matter who the coach is, as the saying goes you can't polish a turd. Our squad is crap. We have about three or four quality players, the rest are unproven kids or nuffies.

Im just amazed that this squad is all we can muster within our cap compared to other sides. The people within the club that have played a hand in that alone should be sharing a substantial part of the blame. In saying that the coach has to work with whats available and coach to their strengths and not continue down a path towards a goal not acheivable with the current players.

Saints have been polished to a reasonable shine, id settle for a semi gloss at least here.

He is looking really bad. I wonder if we got rid of Farah and Taylor how much better we could be. I don't hate Farah but I don't think he is worth anywhere near what we are paying him.

IMHO I just think we have too many players who are not ready for week in week out first grade and this is why the form is fluctuating.

The call has been made to persist with the young side and let them gain experience together. Taylor will be a genius if we win a comp a couple of years down the track. Having said this the decision not to put Lawrence in the centres immediately today was bizarre.

There are also too many spot defenders in the line. There is also a noticeable difference in the go froward when the bench comes on. For this reason I think Tapau needs to go back to the bench.

It would be interesting if Brooks get suspended for the alleged headbutt just before half time and they give Drinkwater a shot. He defends well, good kicking game and knows how to steer a team around.
