Team changes for the Broncos

I can remember last season, with 8 games to go and the season gone, I begged and complained (on another forum ;-) ) for the inclusion of Zillman in the side ... there were reports in the media about problems with our 2nd tear salary cap that did not give Elliott the luxury of picking Zilly.

At the time I said BS !! ... and I still think it was BS.

At the beginning of the season Elliott praised this talented footballer and said that he would see more game time this year .. WELL WE'RE IN RND 22 NEXT WEEK ELLIOTT !!! and so far we've seen about 20 mins of the guy coming off the bench.

How about we see less game time of your over-rated, over-paid, over-used and any other "over" word that you can think of, in Withers.

I can't believe some people defending Chalk.

Bay, you said "Chalk has won us more games than not" ... umm, which games has he won us? If anything, Howell has actually won one game for us, by scoring that last minute try against the Warriors which not many people could have scored. You rant on about people who deserve to be dropped like Purtell and co. but when one of your favourites stuffs up you don't care because "he's won most than he's lost". If we're talking accountability, then Chalk must be dropped because he had THE worst performance of the year, even worse than Howell or Purtell has played at ANY point during the year. And this is coming from one of Chalky's biggest fans.

You're being a bit hypocritical if you think Chalk shouldn't be dropped.

Not denying Chalk had a shocker but if one bad game was the criteria for getting dropped then Howell, Purtell, Withers, Croker and probably a few others should of been shaking hands with Andrew McFadden many rounds ago. He has more of an excuse than the others as he has been stuffed around by supercoach. I don't think he will need reminding he had a bad game (judging by his reaction when he missed Merritt) so give him another week to respond.

not being hyprocritical at all IBG ... Syd_Raiders post best explains my position on this matter

there are some in the team that can play ordinary football week in week out, and we've seen a few of Elliott's favourites keeping their places in the past

Chalky deservedly regained his position in the side ... one bad performance is no reason to drop him

If anything Elliott should concentrate more on his own performance in preparing the team for an important game and for his tactics in starting players that have little influence on making an immediate impact on the opposition

I agree with Syd_Raider and bay... Chalk has one bad game but their are plenty of other players who've been rubbish for consecutive games and find themselves in first grade again, sometimes with a new contract.

Time to bite the bullet with Weyman - We need to find out if his body can hold up as a starter. When half the team are surrender type runners, it's great to see Horse and Learoyd-Lahrs breaking the line with pure aggression.

Others, Withers to be loaned to ESL to learn the basics. Start Carney. Toots never pass again.

I've never seen Howell or Purtell do so much damage in a single game as Chalk did last night. I like Chalk but he can't be rewarded with a spot next week. Surely we have enough depth now that we can afford to hold players accountable for their performances.

Purtell was used, abused, and punished against the Roosters(RD3). The worst wing performance you'll ever see a first grader play. Attack and defense, he had nothing.

And he should probably have been dropped after it. I dont think using past dubious selections to justify Chalks inclusion in the round 22 side holds much water. If anybody deserves to be held accountable, Chalk is that man. IMO it would be hugely unfair to drop Purtell instead of chalk this week. By all means keep them both in the side and give chalk another chance but if a PL player comes into FG this week and Purtell goes to PL instead of chalk an injustice will have been done. Players have to be held accountable for thier performances at some point...

Don't worry Purtell won't be going anywhere. He did nothing wrong so Elliott won't be wasting any space in his head over dropping Purtell. Chalk should get another go though since nuffies before him have been given chance after chance after shocking games.

I havent watched the game, I got home from seeing my Dad off to England and saw the result. Pretty shattered.

Couple of questions though, all bias and hate aside please.

1. Were we outplayed or did we lack ball control?
2. Did our forwards lay a platform?
3. Anything happening organisational wise in the halves (honesty please)
4. Of those who saw PL did any of the outside backs on show do enough to take a wing spot off Chalk or Purtell? (Im talking about Howell/Frawley)

1. Outplayed in the first half. Well not really now that I think about it, Souths scored a lot of basic backline tries, our team was woeful in defence for the first 25 minutes. Ball control was poor, but wasnt the reason we lost.

2. No, I cannot believe how many times our players got picked up and dumped on their backs in the opening 20.

3. Smith looked lost. Whenever we got near the line to attack his kicking options were as if all he cared about was field position. Even when losing by 20. Carney looked good for about 5 minutes, but then dissapeard. Withers offered little.

4. Didnt see PL sorry.

Thanks for the wrap up Paully, seemed like a typical Raiders loss then. No go forward, crap defence and nothing happening in the halves.

After seeing the magic of Inglis today, I want some Zillman magic!

geez Aussie I just saw him score a try and was wondering how Bellamy would coach a Zillman ... absolute waste of talent running around in PL
