I'm with you on that one. I have no idea where Luke Lewis fits into things. Matt Elliott clearly rates him highly.

But he has given Graham and Sammut first crack at the halves, with rumours of Iselin and Romelo being next in line... and it's just hard to picture him moving Nathan Smith out of lock. Even though that move would be best for the team.

Put Lewis in the centres IMO. I have more faith in his defence close to the line than Tighe.

At full strength i don't see a spot for Tighe or Elford.

Lewis, Blair, Emilio, Gordon and Cooper should be ahead of them for the centres, and Gordon, Tia Kilifi, Daniela, Coote and Randall should be ahead for the wing.

I agree but its a only a trial and Elford needs some match prep.

Elford doesnt have the speed anymore, Id be bringing him into the centres to use his ball skills.

Tighe did some good things last year, more than I expected anyway.

I saw enough of Coote to protect him from trials, but Sammut is just as important. I wouldnt play Peanuts either atm, too big a loss if he gets injured. Ordinary backs find him a real handful to tackle one-on-one.

The signs are not so good so far this year, a lot of teams are manning up....so if its going to be tough, the Penrith players better bloody turn up and be fair dinkum.

Already there is some stupid brawl fracas. I dont even want to read about it.

Just for one year, the players should get their heads out of their backsides and play like fugging professionals for the whole year.

Thats not too much to ask for.

No more park footy performances. And Lewis better not die like a dog like he did last year after he was signed. That was bloody disgraceful.

Elliot is going out backwards and if some of the players are going to play like imposters, he should take a few of them with him.

And then Id start on the recruitment staff. They arent delievering much...a male cheeleader was your biggest signing this year. FMD!

Nothing against Geoff Daniella but surely we cannot seriously consider him in our top two selections for positions on the wing this season. He was a fine junior player but sadly has not made the transition to the top grade.

Michael Gordon will surely be an automatic standout for one of our wing positions and the other is up for grabs. Just not Daniella as sadly he is not FG standard.

I'd also know what Woolnough and Bell did last season that would put them anywhere near McKendry, Orton and Blackett. The go forward in the 20's last year is what allowed the likes of Coote and Graham to weave their magic and make their way to the top grade.

I just hope some of our promising young forwards don't go by the wayside because matt Elliott was an undersize, underpowered 2nd rate 2nd rower that couldn't get over the advantage line in his playing days.

Appears Jennings won't get his crack at fullback this season. Coote and Gordon ahead of him.
I'm hoping Smith is only there because there's an intention not to play Lewis for long.

Why F. Puletua is still in the mix I don't know. Give Penese Orton and co a run ahead of him..

I hope this isn't a precursor to what we can expect (again) this season.

But, that is a woeful pack.

You can't really judge Woolnough based on his efforts in 2008. He was out injured for the bulk of the year and never really recovered 100%. He is a hard worker and should be good for us in 2009.

As for Matty Bell... he is a solid player but lacks the mongrel to make him a star IMO. We need to find a way to get him fired up. Let Joel Romelo smash him a few times before each game... :D

simple joel orton should be i the first grade pack for the trial even if its off the bench. He can play both second row and prop.
But as usual Windsor are not helping first grade by having both orton and blacket on the bench while selecting schubert and meridith both old guys who have had there time to shine and will not figure in selection for first grade

2009 is not a year for experimenting with players, it is a year o glory and we want our title back.

Its been 6 years now and boy wouldnt it be great to get it again.

Just select the best possible team and win us some matches.

Very perceptive of you Fibroman. As I recall the go forward you refer to ceased to occur after about Round 14 and we were largely resoundly beaten up front thereafter. There wasn't too much magic from anybody other than perhaps the perpetual dynamo in Joel Romelo.

McKendry and Iosefa were missing for the bulk of the 2nd half of the season, and Orton and Blackett were lucky to get 25 minutes a game.

ortons stats for the year clearly show his go forward was as good if not better at the back end of the year as it was at the start of the year

Compare the stats of Blackett, McKendry and Orton against Brendan HLAD who was our player of the year in flegg in 2007. HLAD played 80 minutes in some games and at least 60 minutes in the remainder. For reasons only known to our management he was deemed surplus to requirements and discarded. HLAD in my humble opinion could have been developed, over time, to be a very very good first grader in the Steve Price mould. Alas, I am a poor judge. With respect HLAD had more potential than any of the above.
