The halves were never the problem on Friday night. 6/9 sets in the second half were..... wouldn't have mattered who was in the halves, you can't do anything when you don't have the ball.

Aren't the halves reponsible for our kicking game which was poor or non-existant?

Not sure how you can say they were not the problem.:? A half decent kicking game would have got us out of trouble on Friday on many occasions.

There is no doubt that we need a dominant half. But the two that played on Friday and the best we have in the club. They can't solve this overnight.

Mate if there is a kid somewhere in our club who can put a grubber into the in goal area for a repeat set - I'd pick them in firsts. Don't care who they are.

I've said it before and I will say it again....

The little fat kid from Seven Hills U/7's.

I feel your pain, but you can't just throw in a kid and expect him to cope. Sam Thaiday will be running at him like an angry rhino all night next game.

He won't if it's the little fat kid from Seven Hills Under 7's.

Well don't you think our piss poor kicking contributed to the fact that we had no ball? No kicks for repeats sets, no well placed bombs and more importantly in general play we kicked down their throats time after time. This just gave the tits momentum, and we were run off our feet.

A few kicks into touch to give us a breather, restarts from scrums instead of Presto or Gordon running it back would have made a huge difference.

Not saying we would have won but geez it would have allowed us to reset occasionally. And how handy would a 40/20 have been for us?

Couldn't agree more.
I agree with Colonel that 9 sets in a half is hardly useful, but you are completely correct in saying that our kicking was a major contributor to this fact.

What your after then is a gun half, not a rookie who can kick. There only 4 or 5 players in the world who can do that and we don;t have one, although we are trying hard to snag one from Mexico. In the meantime, we persevere with what we have.

BTW, I heard Sterlo on the radio over weekend talking about halfbacks in the NRL. He said that most 7's just pay their way until rack up 50 to 75 first grade games. Morts will come good he said.

Also BTW Lockyer has a rib cartilage injury and is not expected to play this week.

Actually I was sort of kidding about the rookie !!

hmmmm. I admire his optimism - but even halves who 'pay their way' usually know how to throw a decent pass that doesn't send a team mate to hospital or hits the deck regularly and have a half decent kicking game. I really really hope he is right but I just can not see it.

Also BTW Lockyer has a rib cartilage injury and is not expected to play this week.

That means they may not score as many points as normal. Doesn't make it any easier for us to score a few !!

Agree with the Morts passing game. He does throw soft passes without purpose. I was watching Carney & Pearce warm up at the stadium the other night that they ran across the field 15m apart passing spiral bullets to each others chests and then turned around and did the same from their other side. I thought to myself then that Morts / Robbo could not do that. :?

The Knights will make the 8 well before we do. Moving Gidley to 7 for them is doing wonders

smartest thing said in this thread so far.......absolutely spot on

i said this after the previous weekend. look how it has changed their team, DA surely has to do the same with Hayne, him to 6. and Robson at 7.

get your best players dominating the ball, not a kid who has so far had everything laid on for him and is now struggling

i have been saying it for weeks now

Maybe its time for Jarryd to move to five eighth as well! His ability to assist every game is a five eighth material.

have only been saying this for about a month or so now.......

if Parra want to make the finals, this needs to happen.......

funny thing is moving hayne from 5/8 to fullback is what set us off last year

granted, but he actually went back to the wing for a bit first didn't he? and it took a while for him and us to click

the thing is i do believe DA was onto something, but Hayne just wasn't ready or confident enough......i believe now he is
