Melbourne Storm injury update

Melbourne Storm winger Dean Ieremia will miss the 2023 NRL season after suffering a torn ACL in the pre-season match against the NZ Warriors in Christchurch on Sunday.

Storm lost a few more players on the weekend.

They will be without Papenhuyzen, Olam, Kamikamica from there full strength 17 for round 1.

Even with our outs in the backrow we should still be good enough at Home. It's not like we fear Melbourne anymore either. We have probably gained an edge over them mentally over the last few years.

And presumably to give Jake the chance to develop his game and potential future as a halfback (or anything else), by playing more than 5-20mins of footy per weekend?

I think Jake will end up playing in England, after the current contract runs out (and presumably his Dad is also not the coach - not claiming nepotism, just that that would be a timepost for a change).

He can still play 80 minutes in NSW Cup unless the game is on the same day as the NRL. Last year he played reserve grade the day after NRL round 24, and two days after round 25. All up he played 13 games in NSW Cup and 14 in the NRL. It's very exciting.

Interestingly, our club has played in 11 grand finals (including the '77 replay) and we have failed to score a first half try in 6 of them.
