He was very well known within Brisbane courtesy of his playing, coaching & his sporting goods company. But today as with most things that are past the two decade mark, he probably is forgotten.

RL could take a leaf out of crickets book by placing more emphasis on the past.

I suspect News Ltd had a lot to do with the 'here and now' focus, which is to league's detriment, in my mind.

The old cliche is true; you can't know who you are, or where you're going, unless you know where you come from.

What?? Toovey was a 7 or 9, not a 6. He took the halfback spot from Hasler with Hasler shifting to either lock or hooker. Toovey played most of his career at halfback with Lyons or occasionally Kosef at 5/8. If Toovey was a 6 then they would have had a NSW team with:

Who the f*ck are they? I know my history pretty well. I know, for instance, that Yappy coached his belived Wests when everyone north of the Murray called them the Mapies - abbreviated to Maggies.

To long lime Wests supporters (thinking the ones that all bought Victa mowers, sang re-worded Village People songs on the hill, and happily lived proudly in asbestos fibro homes instead of any poofy brick house like a f*cking Manly supporter.

To Wests fans, a "pie" could only mean......

• The calculus used to determine the circumference of the doey laid on the Holker St drags on Saturday night,
• Breakfast on Lidcombe Station
• A chart indicating the volume of VB in a mates fridge as opposed to Reschs

• Old timers at Pratten Park used to wait for some hero to should "Go the Pies" - and then they would kick the living sh*t out of them for being stupid f*ckwits who should have stayed in Victoria with other teams like the f*cking Cats, the Saints, the Skirts and the Blouses.

Quite simply - you cannot be a Wests fan and EVER call them something as derogatory as "pies".

Listen you Parramatta dipstck, I can call them "the pies", "meatpies", "maggies" and the "black and white devils". No self respecting Wests supporter would drink VB (Victorian crap) unless there was a strike on at the Reschs and Tooheys breweries.

If they named a team of coaches based on football ability (not coaching - Yappy couldn't coach for shite); then Holman and Kelly would be in any side named.

The halves are a tad crappy. I could have gone with Tony Smith as 5/8, but I simply don't rate him a great player haha. His coachings good though. Hawke was a great 5/8 too.

Strudwick is a bit of a pick from the dark but he captain coached. Hornby would be my preference, but I'm not sure if he's considered cheating since he only coaches U21's.

Probably one of the best forward packs you could get, and a 1-5 that would have been amazing.
