Team v Eels

Yeah, I'm all up for the debate because I think that's where new perspectives come from. But to me, the backline on the weekend is our best one going forward, barring any further injuries. Good on Webby for getting that right, although he is a massive Berry fan so CNK back to FB was always on, as much as certain fans (not so much here) would have liked TT to remain at fullback, and he did a very good job there

The interesting one is when Jackson Ford comes back for finals. I didn't watch the game on Saturday but everything I read here tells me EIT was immense. Does TSS miss out? I'd hate to think Ford comes back into a round one finals game - please let it be top 4 - and he plays 60 odd minutes in the intensity that finals, probably against the Raiders, brings. That, to me, is absolutely the wrong idea and has proven to be.

I honestly doubt RTS would be better at 1, because it's pretty hard to imagine him playing better than he currently is.

Playing wing allows him to focus on the strengths of his fullback play (hard, elusive running) but in a more simplified way, and it seems to be working perfectly.

I also suspect that he'd be 5kg lighter and have trained a little differently if he was expected to play FB regularly. Not that he's unfit or incapable of doing it, but I think he has been primed for a gun season on the wing.
I'm thinking next year though - if we could reshape the roster so we're not so fullback heavy, and centre/wings light, no disrespect to CNK but RTS (especially having prepared that way) is just a better player...

Anyway, I agree that atm it's clearly CNK at 1

RTS is also a bit dodgy under the high ball. Less catches he needs to take the better. CNK is not perfect but seems to work on this aspect more than Rodger.

RTS isn't a very good link man either, he'll often try to step/jig his own way in instead of finding his outsider.
Used to work a treat at prime speed but not so much now, wing is working wonders so why knock it.

CNK also does a decent playmaking job, he's no Walsh but it'll do along with his other plus points.

I like TT, pros and cons on each and I think the sum of CNK adds to more.

RTS realistically has one more season left with us anyway before he takes a retirement contract (probably with R360). I’d be totally happy to see him see that year out on the wing giving us the value he’s currently giving.

Yea good call. I've long been in the "RTS to fullback" camp, but this year he's shown the benefit of finally being left alone to settle into a spot. Hate to risk undoing all that progress by changing him again for his last season. Unless of course Mellars jnr turns out to be a gun.

TT at 18, I guess his injury is not that bad but someone out of FB and wings is touch and go

I heard TT was iced up but moving around freely after the last game so it likely wasn’t as bad as it looked at the time.

Will he be eligible for NSW Cup playoffs?

Don't forget the Eels are only playing for pride. We're building them up too much, aren't we?

Sometimes it’s easier when there are no expectations or pressure although you would imagine when it comes to the hard grind it helps to have something to play for
