Its funny, Sheens gave so much latitude to Gibbs during his development years yet a player like Fifita gets hooked for a mistake or a dumb play. I dont understand. Gee if Bryce got dropped or hooked for every brain explosion he had over the first five years in the top grade he would not have got his boots dirty.
I suppose every player has to be treated different and Sheens wants get on top of Fifta early and get him pointed in the right direction, but to me Sheens seems to have one rule for some players and another rule for others.
I think the difference may be; even if Gibbs' hit ups lacked punch, he worked really f**king hard in defence, especially around the ruck. Gibbs was always going to come good, because he had the right attitude... Fifita's work ethic is incredibly poor, as is his football brain. I've seen him rush out of the line to cough trys more in two games in reserve grade than Gibbs has in his entire career.
I don't know what the solution to developing a player like Fifita is. Covering him with a team of good forwards to allow him his one run every 10 minutes will work, but we're not exactly chock props are we.
If we're going to carry a player like him, I don't know why we don't go get a Solomona or someone with class.
