Cordoba is following the same career path as Chris Armitt, and we all know where he is now

Nice observation Eelz 47. Also probably the fastest front rower in the NRL?(not necessarily laterally I grant you, but in a straight line)He has clearly been picked with a role in mind.

Round 3, Brisbane in Brisbane, possibly in high 30 degrees temps is not necessarily the time and place for youngblood in the foward pack PDJ

Cordoba got a run in 2 games that the coaching staff thought suitable. He acquitted himself well and didn't let anyone down. He will be back, and better for the experience.

thanks, at the st marys trial vella ran down a winger, and that was his 1st trial too. all the players have there own little thing that gets them picked for different games

Not sure that BS is reacting to anything specifically with regard to Cordoba, but playing against the Broncos forward pack in Brissy is a huge ask for anyone, let alone a two-game rookie. I'm sure he will get more game time as the season progresses. Assuming that Grothe and Tahu are fit, the emphasis will definitely be on play-the-ball speed and playing on the fringes now that Brisbane have lost two of their outside backs to long-term injuries. O'Dwyer fits that mould perfectly, hence only one prop on the bench.

This has no explanation other than it's just another stupid Smithy selection, I can't wait until he leaves and there aren't any more of them.

When it comes to Brian Smith and grand finals, well his critics have some evidence on their side. I don't think it's warranted, but that's another debate.

As for comments like "just another stupid Smithy selection"... yeah like all the ones that netted two minor premierships. If we take the "big games" issue out of the equation, I really can't comprehend why anyone wouldn't rate Smithy the best coach of the modern era when it comes to general tactics and team management.

Chris Armitt still wouldn't make our firstr grade side. Why bother using him as a comparison?

A couple of people have hit the nail on the head. Cordoba had a taste he aquitted himself ok (better in Newcastle), now he goes back and continues to gain confidence and skill playing against players he should know he is better than and when the opposition, conditions or injuries justify it, he gets selected again.

Vella's involvement rate was far superior to Cordoba's last week. Vella made the most of his time while he was on there and his heavily involved in defence and offence. In my opinion Cordoba went missing a bit against the Warriors (paritcularly in the hit up department. But he will learn thats why he played two games, to learn.

I suspect that we will see Pig used as a running back rower at some stage in this game as PJ continues to get more game time and will be elusive around the rucks with Webcke, Thorn and Petro grasping for him....

I would suggest that the Eels will harm them up the middle provided they follow the script - don't find touch with kicks, keep the ball in play etc.

I hope you're not referring to Vella, because Vella couldn't make an impact in an under 15's game, he's as soft as Carlaw. This has no explanation other than it's just another stupid Smithy selection, I can't wait until he leaves and there aren't any more of them.

No I was referring to Cordorba PDJ.

delaney was actually on call for tahu but ash went instead due to delaneys teeth problem and the dentist said if he flies it will swell up

Super Duper, I was referring to the Broncos match and the team that was just selected.

I reckon the God's above doesn't want Delaney to be a Parra 1st grader. A bit like Tonga. He'll probably move on next year and like Tonga, represent.

The Parra side is a nervous, small side imo.

Petersen will merely be a speed bump out wide, while the likes of O'Dwyer will do nothing more then just even up the numbers, he's too small & slow to make an impact in this game against the likes of Webcke & Petro in the forwards & Lockyer & Hunt in the backs, a shocking side.

Their is no way Parra can win this game.

How do justify dropping Cordoba? whats the reason? oh wait probably cause he looked the other way when Brian was talking to him.....yep definately an attitude problem.

Maybe that was because Cordoba would have been lucky to have had 15 minutes on the field last week.

I'm sorry but Vella's speed in the play the ball doesn't matter when he's making 5 metres per hitups, being driven back, defending hopelessly and being just plain dominated by all opposition. He isn't playing like he did in 2001, he's just a big girl out on the field now (and I say that in the nicest way possibly, I respect the hell out of him for the way he came back from cancer).

Cordoba was making metres but Smithy wouldn't leave him on the field, in both games he played. He looked the goods while Vella looked like a passenger, just as he has looked since 2003. And when you look at the fact he's replaced Cordoba with a little bloke like O'Dwyer, how can anyone be happy with the selection?

This is the only live game I'll see this year and I don't want to have to walk out ashamed like last year. I doubt we'll be belted, but the Broncos look so much stronger than us on paper.

great tactics by Smith to give O'Dwyer a jersey for this game, if it's a nice hot day in Brissy him, Widdo and pJ can cause some carneige around the centre of the ruck around against big old forwards.

And what if it isn't? don't you think the Broncos are more prone to be climatized in warmer conditions then say Parramatta? after all they are virtually living in a tropical environment.

Heard of Lockyer & Hunt? seen what they've done to Parra's forwards in the past?

Where is f**king delaney or Williams?

Williams has had injuries and didn't even play last week
Delaney is listed as 18, he also is carrying an ankle injury, and was meant to have a wisdom tooth out this week.

They may or may not be ready to play in Ressies let alone 1sts
