JARRYD Hayne doesnt mind if he is the focus of Penriths defence during this Friday nights clash at Parramatta Stadium.
In fact, he welcomes it.
After yet another display of heroics in the Eels 26-18 win over Wests Tigers, the star fullback readily admits he may be a marked man against the Panthers.
``Its not rocket science, I think obviously theyre gonna be trying to shut me down, he said.
``But weve got exceptional players in the team that can also do great things.
``So if (Penrith) put their focus on me Im sure Morts (Daniel Mortimer), and youve got Rocket (Joel Reddy) and (Krisnan) Inus playing in superb form, and they can stand up.
While many are looking forward to Hayne lining up against Michael Jennings in a duel of the games finest attacking players, the youngster didnt see his role in the billing.
``I dont think Ill have much to do with him, he said.
``Itll be more Joel Reddy defending him so Im sure (Jennings) is going to cause Joel a lot of headaches.
``Hes the danger man of course but Im sure well do a bit of video work on him.
Haynes reluctance for the limelight is not just media posturing.
He credits his rise in form to a newfound maturity on and off the field.
``I think myself being a bit more mature (has helped), he said.
``On the weekend I had such a good game, everyone thought Id be out partying and running amok.
``But I stayed home. The latest I went out was for dinner on Saturday night.
``Thats something that two years ago probably wouldnt have been me.
He is no teetotaller, but there is not much time for partying as the 21-year-old tries to help the Eels to a finals berth.
``I still go out, I still love a beer. Im not saying that Ive totally changed, he said.
``But the next couple of weeks are really important so the best thing to do is really focus on footy.
