Ayshford is far from shit. Sometimes I wonder what games people watch.

Ayshford is good and he's only going to get better. Ryan was playing out of his skin at the end of last year.

Tedesco is under the spotlight straight up and Utai is a straight up iability.

Beau Scott played State of Origin last year. Bad comparison. But for the record, Ayshford is a very good player.

Thought souths would have put merrit at fullback. Has Farrell played much fullback?

One game. Hard to judge but he looked solid under the high ball, and he is extremely athletic. Has also been training in the halves all off season, so it gives you the idea that maybe the fullback will be more of a ball playing role than expected from souths

Would be a smart way to take some pressure off Reynolds

And Scott is in the centres because we have so many f**king good backrowers it is easier to shift him and ease Chase Stanley back from injury. We also have Daniel Vidot pushing for a centre spot. The fact that Scott is playing in the centres ahead of these guys give you some idea of his talent but is also a good indication of the strength of the Dragons pack (especially considering Hunt, Miller and Vea are unavailable).

Well in this game Ayshford will be on Best.

That said I reckon we will come up the middle.

He was outstanding at fullback in the Charity Shield. It looks like the perfect position for a player like that. He may be a smokey.

Corrigan is an average centre. They should have McQueen on the wing and King in the centres.

How long till Michael Gordon spits the dummy and wants out?

Average is an understatement. He is average by NSW Cup standards. He has scored 1 try in 18 games and the try was a laughable flop over the line

He is quite safe defensively though, but offers zero in attack

I can only assume he has trained really well in the off season, but you'd assume King in center with McQueen/Farrell/Roberts or even Tabouli on the wing would be a better choice

Not good enough for your coach
Perhaps Farrell simply offers more overall. I know Merritt offers little in the way of ball playing, and for a coach who has worked with the likes of Slater and Tomkins in his last two roles, he'd have high expectations.

I don't think it has anything to do with Sutton

Personally I thought Farrell was poor last year after a stellar first year. If he can regain that first year form he'd be really good in the role.

My point was that Sutton doesn't offer much in regards to ball playing, hence why Maguire would go for someone who can do that from fullback better than Merritt, who is solely a runner of the football. Merritt would have had been more suited to fullback if your 5/8 was someone like Carney perhaps.

Ideally it should create a better balance in the team overall, and allow Sutton to play more of a running five-eight game without leaving Reynolds exposed. But I still think Merritt and Sutton had a fantastic understanding and Sutton always seemed to pop up the right offload or right kick or inside ball when Merritt was playing at fullback
