If Kearney can do anything with that team, he`s a bloody genius.
I`m starting to get the feeling that he`s not a genius.

Well we've just had the toughest pre season on record and fitter than ever. Also we finally have a gameplan.

So all things considered, things are looking good.

Written by Cahn Cotter? Can someone at the Eels proof-read what Cahn uploads to the web before it is published. Amateur hour seriously.

He wore the 9 jersey last week too mate.
Here's hoping that SK sees sense this week then.

Glad Ben Smith is starting - we will need him in defence, and Horo will be able to come on fresh just as we're getting tired after 25-30min. Is this Billy Rogers big, ie prop-size? If he's not, we're going to get smashed in the forwards between the 25-55th minute taking only one bench prop into the game.

Surely Reddy's absence from the/both Wenty team lists means he's a chance to be a late inclusion in the backline? This is an important game that we have to contest, and due to the articles this week Inglis will be pumped to contribute.

But Walker, Morgan and Etu...? I'm tipping the Rabbitohs.

I am not as concerned now as I was late friday night after all the weekend results. Seems most of the teams played against the script, it just goes to show nothing in NRL is a cert. Having said that, the Eels need to step up and do a Penrith against the Bunnies this week. After all, if the Gummies and Panthers can do it then there is no reason the Eels.......um, oh, never mind.

I'd say he'll do whatever best suits the situation.

Penrith were always going to take us on up the middle so Keating started. Souths aim everything at the fringes (with Isaac Luke carving up in the middle if the defence overreacts on the fringes).

Mobile defenders are the key to stopping Souths. As for putting points on the Bunnies, they're vulnerable on their own fringes. Once again, that means mobile forwards.

Hayne could have a big one.

Id give Keating another chance this week, otherwise its time for Mitchell to come into the side. We need that spark from dummy half and unfortunately we didnt have it last week.

If that was the logic, then maybe choosing to start Fuifui would have better suited the situation? Keating imo hardly made one iota of difference defending up the middle than Maguire would have last week.

No but McGuire would've been just as ineffective as Keating if he'd started against the Panthers' with the energy they had early. At least when McGuire came on he was fresh and Penrith had stopped moving up so quick.

Anyway, they both played 40 minutes (actually 39/41). And Keating scored our only try.
