Tedesco or Cronk

It doesn't matter what the commentators say or what predictors day. What matters is if Millward can:

Make room for Tedesco cap + TPA.
Present a good deal to Tedesco.
Present the Club in as a great competitive Club well into the future.

Then let Tedesco CHOOSE to come to the Dragons.

Both players an offer immediate improvement to any team but Cronk is too short term.
Tedesco by a country mile but not sure if lm ready to buy him.

Rather have Dugan.
Yes he's somewhat injury prone but that's because he puts his body on the line every week.
He offers more than just another good player.

I think Cronk will continue playing, if he was going to retire why not announce it and if he was unsure why bother saying anything at all. By announcing this early he is giving interested clubs the heads up to get their finances and salary cap in order. He will probably get around the 1.5 million a season. At 33 this will be his last chance to earn that sort of money for doing something he loves.

Tedesco over Cronk but I'd be giving Dugan priority. Tedesco will be around 1.2 million a season and is a relative newcomer to the elite players club so his longevity at this level has not been tested. How often do we see a player have a few Stella seasons and fade away. Dugan is a big tough bugger who gets his fair share of injuries and at times criticisms but he always bounces back to prove himself and has done this time and time again.

None. We need to re-sign Dugan and Widdop. Looking at our squad now, all we are missing is a quality genuine halfback who we have already signed from 2018. Why start from scratch with 3 new members to a spine compared to one?
1. Dugan
6. Widdop
7. Hunt
9. McInnes
Agree...we only need the addition of Hunt and keep our current players and we would have a lethal spine....

I'd say the salaries being quoted would not be cap figures and instead the total after TPA's.

Sign Dugan on 750k plus a TPA of 150k.
Sign Maloney on the same.
Sign Tedesco on 900k with a TPA of 300k
So our backline could be:
Tedesco
Mann
Dugan
Milne
Macdonald
Maloney
Hunt

One of the best in the competition. Plenty of savings with Widdop, Lafai and other fringe first graders let go.

Plenty of backline backup with Field, Dufty, Herbert, Aitken Garrick and Hutch playing in reserve grade.

Possm, I feel like you aren't quite aware of how TPA's work...

How they are supposed to work is not how they are actually working these days. Nobody can tell me that Club's are playing no part in the arrangement of TPA's. That some how a player who they want to sign, all of a sudden come across a TPA from an entity not beign a sponor of the Club and not introduced by the Club.

The only way integrity can be instilled within the TPA scheme, is for it to be totally arranged and run by the NRL or made a responsibility of player managers. TPA's should follow players. They should be an earning that keeps them playing rugby league not playing at/for a specific Club.

Currently TPA's undermine the original intentions of the salary cap and provide an unfair advantage to Clubs owned by corporations who have access to a variety of businesses.
