Tedesco playing for City

James Tedesco has been called into the City side to replace Jarryd Hayne at fullback. Wow, after just four NRL games!

Someone in NSW hierarchy rates him VERY highly. Even with players pulling out through injury left right and centre it is still a massive selection.

Very happy for him. Hopefully it will force Potter's hand to move him to #1 permanently.

Reddy has also been called up and will play centre. They must have run out of players.

And yet we start with timid Tim Moltzen at fullback.

Surely that signals the end for him there. Tedesco is a gun.

Tedesco in. Wow. He hasnt earned it but a ringing endorsement of his potential.
Reddy. Thats funny. Just completely absurd and funny.
But....Reddy actually deserves it more than Lawrence.

Open your eyes, Potter, and f**k Timid Tim off to reggies.

Looking at the starting fullbacks this weekend only Minichiello is a city player.
4 country players and the rest from QLD or are Kiwi's.

The selectors could have used other who like Tedesco played on the wing and have more 1st grade experience, David Williams for example.

They could have moved Merritt and showed his worth for NSW but assume Daley didn't request that.

I think this is something for the future. Like others have said, I hope Potter can see this as a move for the future as well.

Sironen in city team.

This is as much a rep game as indigenous all stars game. Good luck getting a crowd NRL.
Why not probables v possibles before origin camp instead of this nothing 'rep' game.

I really hope this forces Potters hand I hope this is the final nail in Timids coffin.

While we all know tedesco is the future of this club and the long term fullback, the moltzen bashing is completely unnecessary! He has been one of our best this year as much as people don't want to admit and has improved a thousand percent on last year. We actually need him at the moment as he can fill any position in the backline, I would expect him to play half until anasta comes back.

You have to admit the selectors have gone all out to choose players in form - Reddy, Lawrence and turnstyles.

A fullback averaging about 50 running metres a game and I am supposed to be happy he has stepped up from being utter shit to just a plodder?

He has not been one of our best. Just because you don't constantly f**k up doesn't mean you are doing well.

He just set the bar so low people have no choice but to be impressed when he catches a bomb

Spot on Gronk

If you look at the number 1 fullbacks from each club Moltzen is by far the worst. I don't view wanting to upgrade one of the most important positions as 'Moltzen bashing' just the realities of developing a football team.

Good luck to all that have been selected, whether they deserve the selection or not is debatable, but i cant help but feel that considering the number of players that have made themselves unavailable for the match devalues the honour of being selected and the relevance of the match.

Dont forget his appalling positional play in defence,he is by far the worst fullback in NRL due to the fact that he is shit scared and wont compete.

Do you believe Moltzen is a better fullback than Tedesco?

This is what I believe which applies to any team sport =

There is no I in Team and at this stage Potter considers Moltzen is best for the team at fullback. So my answer to your question is I support the selection which is best for the team which happens to be Moltzen at this time according to our coach.

Moltzen played well and it was not his error(s) which cost us the game. Look at the winger and centre on our left side.

When Korobeite returns, obviously he will replace Tedesco on the wing. If my memory is correct, Moltzen has a very good pass from left to right which means he could play right centre or even left centre. Whether this allows for Lawrence to gain confidence in State Cup and Tedesco to move to fullback is a decision which may need to be made.

Can't believe how many people are taking Coupe's bait here.

he knows that by defending Moltzen (justified or not) and heavily criticising Tedesco (justified or not) that he will get a reaction from most here.

We all know that Moltzen has been playing well, but he's not a consistently better or more capable fullback than Tedesco.

Tedesco has missed a few tackles, but Moltzen's defence is barely any better.

Moltzen is a natural ball running five-eighth. He's able to cover fullback if no one is able to.

Complaining about the defence of a fullback is akin to complaining about a prop's long kicking game.
