SHEENS SLAMS CRISIS TALK

Veteran Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens is mystified over talk his club is in crisis mode despite being in their strongest position for five years.
After missing the finals for four straight seasons following their premiership in 2005, the joint venture club is inside the top four and set to end their play-off drought with a month of the regular season remaining.
All of which has Sheens perplexed at reports of a club in turmoil heading into Sunday's clash with fellow top four aspirants Penrith at Campbelltown Stadium.
"What issues are you talking about?" Sheens asked on Thursday.
"We're not running last. We've lost three of our last 11 matches and are equal second.
"I'm not particularly interested in reading the media to any great degree.
"You guys (the media) go up and down. They're on your side when you're winning and not on your side when you're losing."
"That's not for us to worry about. Our job is to concentrate on the game at hand.
"If people want to have a go at us, that's fine. We're used to that."
The Tigers bombed a golden opportunity to break free of a clutch of clubs inside the top four when they were beaten by Souths in remarkable circumstances last week.
The depleted Rabbitohs trailed deep into the game before taking the match into golden point and scoring the match-winning try with extra-time up.
The Tigers escaped the scrutiny of that painful loss by going into a camp down the NSW South Coast a pre-arranged trip, not a reaction to the loss according to skipper Robbie Farah.
"We wanted to go away as a group and re-focus and set some goals going forward," he said.
"We're excited about what's ahead in the next couple of months."
"In the past we've been trying to scrape our way into the eight."
"This year we've laid a good foundation and the next month we can push forward with our aspirations."
"The opportunity is there for us to do something this year. It's up to us what we do with it."
The Tigers are sweating on the fitness of three players Keith Galloway, Wade McKinnon and Chris Lawrence in the lead-up to Sunday's vital clash.
Sheens is pessimistic about McKinnon's chances and will reserve a decision on Lawrence and Galloway until Saturday.

Well, there you have it boys and girls, WT are doing fine according to Teflon. Whilst legitimate issues raised by the pesky media and so called fans such as the disappearance of our attack, our ability to put sides away and the gathering tag of pretenders are publicly dismissed. Hopefully they are not dismissed behind the scenes though, either by Teflon or WT management and board.
Is anybody able to go back over WT record back to and including 2005 with the number of games each season WT have really put an opposing side to the sword? My impression is we will find a slow but steady reduction in numbers of games per season.
Ill try and get some stats myself on the w/end if I can get the time.
BTW- I do want WT to be in the finals but I think the real threat is there we will fall short again with our traditional end of season fade. Unfortunately our form in the games we have won has not inspired me and I do think we are pretenders and will be found wanting quickly in the next, higher, level of finals football and make a humiliating exit.
End of year results? Position in the table enough to save Teflon, teams performance not enough to save Teflon. I wonder which way the WT baord will go?
