I wanted to give Teig Wilton a rap for his effort last night.
He seemed to make it his mission to keep Haas under control.

From what I recall, in the second half every time Haas got the ball Teig was there, hitting hard and not giving up on pulling the big fella down. Huge effort.

In stark contrast, I also recall earlier several times watching as Haas carried Brailey around his legs and another defender up top while Woods stood back and literally just laid a hand on him. No effort, no putting his body into it. Just "tapped".

What an absolute pillow. I defended the guy earlier this year, but man I have I changed my mind on him.

It's a pity the season has panned out the way it has and pretty much painted Hannay into a corner over his continued selection. I dare say if Royce and Wade had been available all year, Woods would be very much on the outer.

Next year can't come soon enough.

Interesting. I felt Briton stepped up and started jamming in on Haas. He was my pick of the forwards, though Teig made a difference.

Agree the big takeaway was how diabolical Woods was. He did his usual in not even making an attempt to tackle to hide his missed tackle count.

Our pigs were better than last week overall. Tolman was good as well.

Yeah, I thought as a whole they were better for sure.
Woods only clocked 33 minutes though. Let's hope that continues.

I'd happily start Teig at left edge and shift Talakai back to the bench as a middle. I've been disappointed in his efforts of late. I really don't think he's an edge player.

Yep Wilton has a future.
Impressive.
Nikora was excellent. One mistake bundled into touch but quality D and line running

Agree. Talakai has been disappointing. Needs a big off season to sharpen up his fitness. Can’t imagine Fitz tolerating some of his defensive efforts….especially when his attack has come off the boil.

Yeah totally agree, I mentioned the same thing in the game day thread too. Haas trampled Brailey all game until Teig came on and stopped him in his tracks every time.

Brailey cops a bit of criticism in here for getting trampled but the kid isn't scared to have a crack. If Woods helped the kid like he is supposed to there would not be a problem.
I honestly can not believe how big of a coward Woods is. Biggest bloke on the field and he plays like he is terrified. Worst NRL player in the comp by a country mile.

Agree on Wilton and I thought Nikora was good as well. Both did well to shut Haas down.

Talakai needs to be playing in the middle, I don’t think he’s an edge player. Fitz needs to get a hold of Sifa and get his fitness up to scratch. There was one particular effort he made right on the goal line that stopped a try, can’t remember when or where it was in the match but the Broncos player would have scored has Sifa had not made a strong effort to hold him up.

woods is just a disgrace

Got a feeling talakai must be carrying an injury. Just isn’t himself. Didn’t seem to play many minutes either

I put it down to not copping with living away from home, having a newborn, being a quiet family man type, stop start to his season, his suspension and changing role in a shit team, think he was pretty upset with Morris situation also with the added pressure of a great 2020.
Can see a big improvement as an impact middle off the bench under Fitz.

Think we just hyped talakai too much. Never been a great player and that’s why he joined on a train and trial contract. Short sharp bursts is probably the way to use him. Starting edge aint it.

Wilton.
If my coach was assistant coach to the blues ld be thinking if l lift my game...
That's motivation.

Nicho 14th man. Nicho in camp. Nicho signing with us.

This used to work for us when Gal was state captain with recruiting.

quite suprised with Tolman . He seemed to really step up . Talakai is still what we bought , and will get better in 22.

Talakai has had the misfortune of missing the guts of the season and he’s played a number of different positions on his return….was suspended etc etc. Fitz will turn him into a beast imo.
Yeah, I think the Morris/Hannay experience of lacking depth and throwing Talakai into the centres has to stop for him to develop properly. He came through as a centre and developed into an edge backrower as a result, but agree with the above that he's a different player now. I still think he develops as an interchange second rower with some time in the middle

I’m a big fan of Wilton but starting to question if he would be better as a middle forward???

He is getting bigger by the day and lacks that little bit of extra speed or foot work for the edge in attack but has more than the typical middle.

The way the game is moving he is the perfect mould of a front row forward similar to Prior.

Not ruling him out as a back rower as he can definitely succeed there and has been our best edge in defence all year.

Interesting perspective. Wilton has a great engine and has a real go physically. He will get stronger in the next couple of years.

He is probably expected to take the left edge back row spot full time when Wade goes but with the game changing, his body type is becoming the prototype.
