Brisbane Broncos plan to shed under-achievers in the coming months

August 05, 2009 As Brisbane Broncos face the prospect of missing the finals for the first time since 1991, the club's management is making moves for a significant overhaul of the playing roster, with four big-name recruits being shopped around to rival clubs.
Ashton Sims, Ben Teo, Lagi Setu and Joel Clinton - all under contract until the end of 2010 - are the players the Broncos are looking to off-load.
While Clinton has shown glimpses of the form that earned him Test honours in 2004, he has struggled to carry the burden of being the club's forward leader - a mantle he was handed after a direct swap with Penrith for Petero Civoniceva last year.
Between them, Clinton and Sims take up an estimated $530,000 of Brisbane's salary cap. Teo is reputedly worth about $200,000, while Setu, who arrived at the club after a breakthrough season with St George Illawarra, is worth about $120,000.
