As a huge fan of the Terminator franchise, this really shits me. T1 and T2 are as close to perfect as you could hope to come- what can a remake hope to achieve? If it's done well, then great, it'd be about on par with T1, if it's not, then you'd be ruining the legacy of one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever. What's the point? T1 will never age as it's deliberately set in 1984, all the dated hairstyles, cars, houses, sets etc, they're all vital for setting the scene, even though they're just what were popular at the time back then. T2's the same, it'll never age, it doesn't need a remake.

The Terminator franchise had the perfect continuation in the tv series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles- it more than made up for the awfulness of T3 and was far better than the utter disaster that was Terminator Salvation. It had memorable characters, an engaging story, the philosophical element of T2 and just generally felt like the perfect spiritual successor to T2. Then Fox ruined everything by cancelling it. :(

Terminator 1 was meh IMO. Too much romance for my liking.

Terminator 2 was near perfect. Especially for its time. The Cold War was still on everyone's mind and the idea of artificial intelligence was becoming main stream. Now it's almost like society is wanting computers to take over everything.

I didn't mind Terminator 3 THAT much. There was too much humour in it and the TX was just a shit bad guy.

Salvation was a long time coming, but as said before, the focus was on the wrong character. And I thought Christian Bale was an awful choice for John Connor. They did try to take it seriously which I thought was good. But it just missed the head of the nail.

How is a reboot possibly going to be relevant to the current world? I can't see it working.
