You are deadset the king of naive island if you think he hasn't pulled this to get away from the Dogs. He will be with another club within 18 months.

*wants out of the bulldogs, citing he wants to box as an excuse.

Why is it always boxing? can't they just make up some shit like weightlifting, ballet or cycling?

Box for 6 months. Sell used cars at City Ford over the off season. Roosters squad for round 1.

Is there a betting market for this?
You can’t get out of it that easy , dodgy bulldog stuff happening we can all see it

I wouldn’t be resentful about that, because when you think about it TPJ being inflicted on the Roosters is actually a good thing.

Watch him make a comeback to league after losing a couple of fights. He'll end up at some desperate club by 2025... Prolly Tigers or Eels....

If we are to take this retirement at face value, then TPJ is a massive idiot. To leave a well paying gig to take a chance at a sport which needs a shitload of self drive, hard work and crazy discipline is insanity. Add to that his virtual non-existent background in the sport, the guy is absolute crackers.

Yes, he'll most likely come back to the sport.....but 12-24 months out of the game will end up being too late for the man.

He’s absolutely getting a ‘behind closed doors’ payoff from the Dogs - even he ain’t that dumb to walk away from $750k!
The dogs wanted rid, he wants to go, we know Laundy is willing to tip in out of his own pocket…..
Dogs now have a Ben Hunt-ish size amount of cap suddenly free for next year, TPJ can go do a bit of boxing, avoid some pre-season and then sign up with another club… And Rothfield can throw some more arrows at Gus over his recruitment and retention strategy… Everyone is a winner!

100%, can’t believe some people acting like TPJ is so valuable a commodity that he had to hatch this plan to get away. His contract has been a disaster from the get go, let’s not pretend he’s Payne Haas or Tino where he’s got half the comp waiting to offer him a $1 mil a year deal, most teams wouldn’t touch him for half that
