So, apart from Star City, does anyone know where in Sydney you can play?

Like many of you, I'm addicted but am yet to try my hand anywhere but the internet!

I play sometimes at St George Leagues. It's free, no prizemoney unless you make the finals.

It's not that serious.
It'll be hard cause you don't know the rules.
But people on the table will help you with dealing and all that stuff.

At Star City, do they have limited tables? i.e limit of the number you can bring onto the table/limit of amount of raises?

Because i know they have limited Blackjack tables, not sure if the same applied with Texas.

With regards to Hold-Em:
No Limit Hold Em has a maximum buyin of $200, and has blinds of 2.5/5.
Limit Hold Em has a minimum buyin of $100 and blinds are 2.5/5 or 5/10.

The biggest problem with Star City is that they have a Community Chip rake of 75c and sometimes $1 every hand, so regardless if you bet or not you are still paying commission to the house, this can get quite expensive.

The best poker house in Australia is Melbourne and Adelaide. I prefer to play at Canberra, where the house only takes the commision from the winning pot and they also have Tourny's on Thursday nights.

Yeah, i just came back from Star City..

The fees are set at 75 cents minimum, and they can choose to take it from the pot, bet or each individual.

No Limit Hold 'Em is $200 minimum buy in, but 5/10 only.

I bet i get caned for this, but Texas Hold em is as real as Nutrasweet/aspartame. Fake, fake, fake.

There is no way on earth this is real poker.

its better than regular poker, wheres the fun in making one switch maximum?

Theres not as many mind games played is 5 card poker than there is in Texas Hold 'Em.

If theres a poker which isn't real poker, its Omaha.

Also another question re: Star City

When you buy in, do you get $100/$200 worth of chips?
i.e Your bet is in real dollars.

Or is it a set amount all around, i.e $5000 worth of chips and winner gets the pot at the end.

Buyin of $200 = $200 Worth of Chips.

You only get inflated values ie. $2000 worth of chips for $200 when playing tournaments at other Casinos.

Well I'll be at Star City this Friday so I'll see what happens - might give it a go if I'm feeling rich.

Otherwise I'll stick with Blackjack.
