No this is the travesty of the golden point. The better team lost. And Gallop had nothing to do with it, as he only controls the NRL. The ARL and NSWRL control the Origin series. I leave out the QRL as the ARL and NSWRL outvote the QRL. It is not an equal control of the series, NSW control it. No wonder Qld gets paranoid.

Tonight has shown us how much better State of Origin is with Extra Time. As an event it requires a resolution and we got one.

Why we extended to the normal competition I'll never know, but thank Christ it got introduced for our showpiece event.

Personally however I would prefer we had 5 minutes each way without Golden Point. It seems a bit fairer to me. Obviously if scores are still tied after this then you move into Sudden Death.

That's what made that Tri-Series final so great. It wasn't 80 minutes then Golden Point. It was 80 minutes, then 10 minutes each way and finally[/I] golden point.

Anyway, putting the technicalities to one side, the finish to the match was sensational.

P.S. What about the charge down from Buderus on that last ditch QLD field goal attempt in normal time. That was drama if ever I've seen it!

As the teams knew there was extra time, that led to a certain lack of intensity in the last 5 mins. I think that was undesirable. I think we got by with no draws for 100 years and I am not convinced that this golden point thing is a good thing unless we have to decide, say, the Grand Final.

thats just bloody dumb...what would happen if there was a big wind going 1 way, if u held out for 5 min, then u'd have more chances to win it.

if your going to do that, u have to make it 5 swap, 5 swap 5 swap

The whole place couldnt believe there was no extra time and it was just an anti climax.

I could see an argument for extra time in only the last game if its a decider but i thought last night was great and i enjoy extra time!

I agree though with someone else who said extra time first, then Golden point. The tri series final was amazing.
