Imagine what Souths would have been, if they could have matched the ridiculous offer made for Phil Blake!

Sorry to burst your bubble but the Blakes were Manly juniours who spent 5 years at Manly before Phil Blake signed for Warrington in England before signing with Sth Sydney.

So at least look up some facts before sprouting your bulldust!

My apologies, you are correct. I ment Craig Field. (What made me think of Blake, I dont know.)

Field was an inspired purchase. (I think I saw him at the TAB again yesterday)

Witt isn't a five eighth by the stretch of anyones imagination and really struggled there last year. When he and Thorman were switched they played much better......
Was that Witt's fault or Thorman's? Thorman struck me as something of a waste of space last year. I don't understand why you persisted with him.

He was up there with Jye Mullane in the effectiveness stakes.

Thorman was a good player, just not a halfback - he would have eventually made an impact at 5/8 had he been given time in that role. He spent far too much time at halfback or for some reason dummy half, which is where he made his debut.

He played a couple of good games when the two switched. Witt looked lost at 5/8 but played ok, particularly in the game against the Roosters and the Sharks when they played their rightful roles.

I reckon Monaghan is a good 5/8 and you'd get more out of the two if they were switched.

That option may happen yet. But it is also possible that Witt might thrive on the outside of a half back giving better service than Thorman was capable of last year.

Certainly it looks as though Witt is going to take our attacking kicks (especially bombs) which is an area I think you'll agree he did well for you guys in the last two years (if your win against the Rorters last year is anything to go by).

I doubt he'll be taking the drop outs from the line though.

Most halves need good forwards in front of them to shine. Though the best halves can make their stamp on a game with a pack that just matches the other team.

Things look encouraging for our pack to be able to perform better than last year, so our halves should be able to perform better. For Manly to see the best of Witt, they'll need forwards going forward too.

All it proves is you've found a way around the salary cap.
Get your hand off it will you? :iwstupid:
Let's go through the players who left the eels last year alone: adam dykes, michael witt, chris thorman, david vaealiki, junior langi, craig stapleton, lee hopkins, shane muspratt, corey pearson, jamie lyon [-( , wise kativerata, chris armit, nathan armit.
And with all of them gone you still think we don't have enough money to pay new players without cheating the salary cap?
