That Call

The fact Bill Harrigan says it is a try means nothing. I bet if 100 refs were in a room then they would be divided on the call just like most people here are. Does Harrigan not remember the try call he was involved with in 1999 that was the most controversial in NRL history and left people divided in much the same way? Difference was that actually decided the game.

Had Harrigan said it wasn't a try, I would have said who cares what he thinks.

Same goes if he says it is a try.

Straight from Horse's mouth:
"Inglis didn't deny fumbling the ball.

"It was pretty much pure luck," Inglis said of his four-pointer that took him past Dale Shearer as Origin's leading try-scorer with 13.

"I didn't know the ruling on it.

"I knew I had fumbled it. I didn't know the foot was underneath, to be honest."

He doesn't say that Farah dislodged it but he fumbled it. You would know if someone kicked it out of your hand and he would have said so. Even if Farahs foot was underneath he is fumbling it forward off Farah which is knockon.

I call bullshit on that quote for two reasons.

1. There's no source.
2. Inglis has never, ever been that coherent.

If the try is NOT awarded NSW automatically win the game, right?

I mean all their attacking raids had been so fruitful for them through the game.

I knew there would be some grumblings but this has turned into a full blown meltdown. Hilarious stuff and long may it continue.

Not sure anyone has said NSW were going to win it if it stays at 12-10?

Players have been getting rewarded for poor ball control and losing the ball for some time now, I guess this decision could be called a culmination but really I just see it as a continuation and honestly almost expected.

What I find more interesting is that Myles was allowed to make initial contact to an opponent's head with his forearm and it was not given a penalty. It's the right decision, Uate was falling and Myles could not have stopped it. But every other such occurrence this year has been a penalty, without fail, regardless of how low the arm or how far or sharply the ball carrier had fallen. It wasn't missed, the play was stopped as Uate recovered and the video ref would have without doubt seen the replay, a conscious decision to do nothing was made. I'm just wondering why.

Simple question - Did Bird take Cronk past the horizontal when he lifted him?

nope

and your new found mate Harrigan says it shouldn't have been a penalty

Harrigan admitted the decision to penalise Greg Bird for a lifting tackle on Cooper Cronk late in the first half had been incorrect. Shortly after that call Queensland extended their lead when winger Darius Boyd crossed for his second try of the night.

"It was not a dangerous tackle," Harrigan said.

That youtube clip shows it clear as day and Harrigan still thinks it doesn't bounce forward off the forearm of Inglis? WTF?

Disgraceful decision. Almost as disgraceful as that fool who is in charge of the referees claiming it was a try.

That decision didn't cost the game, but it did cost NSW the chance to win the game...

Amidst all the talk of whether the ball being grounded on Farah's foot was a knock on, I'm surprised that the video ref and the commentators missed the "blatant" knock on where the ball ricocheted off Farah and hit Inglis' left forearm and went forward before he grounded it.
Apparently it was a "rebound" whatever the f**k that is. Seems like they are just making up the rules as they go.
