Thought it would be interesting to keep track of the ladder taking away bye points. Still a misleading ladder because some teams have played 13 games, some 11 and some 12, but here we go anyway. The ladder with no bye points allocated with one game to play this arvo (Knights with a great opportunity to climb the ladder):

1- Broncos (18)
2 - Rabbitohs (16)
3 - Panthers (14)
4 - Sharks (14)
5 - Storm (14)
6 - Dolphins (14)
7 - Raiders (14)
8 - Eels (12)
9 - Warriors (12)
10 - Sea Eagles (11)
11 - Titans (10)
12 - Roosters (10)
13 - Cowboys (10)
14 - Bulldogs (10)
15 - Knights (9)
16 - Tigers (6)
17 - Dragons (6)

Did you do it by wins or losses?
I was thinking of doing it based on rounds completed x 2 points so 26 max. less 2 points for every loss, but I think that just works out the same as current ladder. Am on my phone and cant be assed trying to work out the different options.

That would be a better way of doing it.

I kept it very simple and literally just took bye points off the teams that have had them. And just worked out the points taking into account for and against.

The fairest way to do it is to take out byes and go off win percentage. If you do that it looks like this.

1. Broncos - 69.2%
2. Panthers - 63.6%
2. Sharks - 63.6%
2. Storm - 63.6%
5. Souths - 61.5%
6. Dolphins - 58.3%
6. Raiders - 58.3%
8. Warriors - 50%
8. Sea Eagles - 50%
10. Eels - 46.2%
11. Titans - 45.4%
11. Roosters - 45.4%
13. Bulldogs - 41.7%
14. Knights - 40.9%
15. Cowboys - 38.5%
16. Tigers - 27.3%
17. Dragons - 25%

What about a win % plus the consideration of weighted result based on the quality of the opponents faced, if those opponents where fresh after a bye and also if teams faced less than 6 day turnarounds. Thanks in advance.

Do people check the ladder each week? I will have a look every 2 or 3 and generally know who is going well without worrying about the ladder untill the last 7-8 rounds.

I don't check the ladder each week, but I typically look at your power rankings most days.

Look like we only move up one spot at the most next week and that's if the Warriors lose to the Fins.
If the Warriors win, we all get 2 points and positions remain the same for us, Manly & Newcastle.

I think the easiest way to do a current ladder is just give everyone 3 byes and then count the current wins.

I think that has us 8th on for and against.

If we win 6 from 11 from here we'll likely make the Top 8.

Total wins mean nothing when teams have played different numbers of games. Percentages are where its at.
