On the afl footy show eddie has had a huge winge about it sayin that if the afl gives the deal 2 them then they dont have a bidding war or somehtin like that

why is 7 suing the afl, they seem 2 be suing every code atm

I think its great.

I'm no fan of Nine, as they've long been the biggest abuser of the viewing public when it has come to program scheduling.

McGuire can cry all he likes, but I remember he was doing some crowing when 9 slipped under 7's guard to work the deal with 10 a few years back.

What goes around comes around, and I would have loved to have been on hand to see Kerry Packer's reaction when news of the union came through to him at the Nine ratings crisis camp.

I've been happy with the effort that 10 has put into its commitment to AFL and I think a partnership between 7 & 10 will be great for the sport.

9 really do go on with such crap!

All this tosh from McGuire about how a deal not involving 9 will leave the AFL financially vulnerable

Its about as viable as the crap Sam Newman used to go on with when 9 didn't have the AFL rights and he used to constantly deride 7. As he told it, 9 getting the rights was going to be the best thing for the sport ever as the network would "revolutionise" coverage and drag it out of the prehistoric age that 7 had it living in.

How have they revolutionised things prey tell?

They've given us one extra (dizzying) camera angle AND a peurile indifference to showing the code outside of VIC in reasonable hours (Sunday afternoon excepted).

7 & 10, god I hope they get it... Bring it on.

& Endless Collingwood games. McGuire and the prgramming cronies at Channel Collingwood need to realise that 95% of us don't give a f**k about Collingwood & don't want to watch them play.

Did you see McGuire's whinge on The Footy Show last week? Scaremongering at it's greatest (He even brought the word into the little speech he gave) - As far as I'm concered you reap what you sow. Suck shit Packer, maybe now the game will go back to a Channel that will look after the game and not some clubs.

We don't get the AFL show up here and I've always been thankful for that, as any exposure to Sam Newman is infinitely too much exposure for mine.

That being said, I would have liked to have seen last night's show just to see Eddie & Co having a good old cry.

If, and it looks likely, 7 & 10 get the nod from 2007 onwards, it will be funny to watch the scurrying that goes on among the current 9 commentary list trying to snare places.

Given that I don't seriously rate anyone in the 9 commentary rotation (outside of Commetti), I'd be happy to see them all left on the sidelines.

No doubt Brereton will try to weasel his way back to 7, but hopefully both 7 & 10 would tell him to talk to the hand

Apparently they don't want Dermott.... What I will find interesting is how many nine executives lose their jobs this time around.

Would love to see Kerry go on yet another purge and again have them come back to bite him on the arse ;-)

& gotta admit, I don't watch TFS much nowadays either. Just happened to be in the lounge room taking something apart when McCollingwood launched into his anti-Ch 7 tirade. After 10 years of deriding 7... It must kill TFS boys to see 7 will most likely get the rights back. Especially with their new anti-talking footy/mcavaney sketch last night.

Was mostly Ed to be honest, the players on the panel were more questing what nine would do ... blah blah blah *read between the lines* "Shit if 9 don't bid, we won't get the pay rise we are already screaming for" lol

I love the suggestions by some dreamers that the AFL is risking the wrath of King Kerry in considering 7 & 10 for the fresh AFL rights. They're kidding themselves! The prospect of Kerry trying to form a rebel competition out of spite are effectively zero because:

1) The costs would be exorbitant and the prospect of getting the public onside minimal at best.

2) With WSC, he was able to offer players inducements that were large (yes), but nonetheless seemed larger on account of the players starting from a payment base that was almost nil. To encourage well fed and watered AFL players to risk a move would leave those WSC type inducements in the shade.

3) Where will games be played? The AFL owns Telstra Dome in partnership with 7 and has tight long-term contracts stitched-up with all of the other major grounds. A rebel comp would have to play at povo suburban grounds.

4) How many clubs would go with him, given that the clubs are locked tight to the AFL cash wise? He could start fresh clubs, but aside from lacking sufficient playing staff for side depth, the public wouldn't want a bar of it because they are religiously devoted to established clubs.

It simply wouldn't happen, boys and girls!
