The Amazing Fitz and Unamazing Chad Issue

The huge benefit we have in getting Fitz is he has been at the Rorts for years and there is no other club or coach - in Trent Robbo - who understands better that to hold the trophy aloft on GF day it comes down to the 7.
Robbo punted the SOO halfback because he knew that despite the star studded lineup he had he was winning nothing with Pearce.
So he got Cronk.
After cronk he went for flan2 on a long term deal. After identifying he was winning nothing with him he dropped him, then punted him.
They stole walker from the broncs and the balls now in his court.

Bellamy dropped Croft weeks out from the finals because he knew he was winning nothing with him and moved Hughes from 1 to 7 and won the trophy.

That Chad is a grand final winning 7 is a fallacy. He and Shane Perry share the honour of having a premiership ring because the 6's ran the team and orchestrated the attack.
That would be Lockyer and Maloney.

So fortunately for us not only has Fitzy seen and experienced this philosophy at close hand he has heard it explained in detail by Robbo at length.

Do you reckon hes not watching our halves closely at the moment?

I’d say he’s already decided change is required.

He would have seen enough of the trash dished up by our 7

Yep, I agree with the sentiment. The half back still owns the result..thx Sticky.

Chad as a game manager fades in and out too much. At his best he is a dependable 7 who seems to have reached his limit.
Much respect to anyone who pulls on a jeresy and gets bashed for a living , Insure as hell couldn’t do it But , if we want to continually improve methinks Chad has taken us as afar as he can.
The question is, who would be coming?
For mineRenolyds would be great as a 2 year plus one option. Is that the window we are opening? 3 years?

No. I reckon he's decided the oath he would like to pursue. He's seen enough.

I hope he wants to keep SJ. As CB4 said, Chad is cap friendly. I hope he gets retained.

I think Chad is in discount territory. The rule now is 10 years in the NRL across the NRL. He's in year 11. We probably are already getting the discount.

I guess if the object is to consistently be a top 4 side then without being disrespectful Chad is not your man. I believe BB...SJ and even WK are probably all a top 4 spine on most days but lesssgoo is a bit off that. If as CB4 suggested the hit is not too bad salary cap wise you could keep him on for depth I guess but I don’t know that he would cop the thought of being a back up. Sign Reynolds up for two years with a club option for a third and take it from there. Personally I think there’s more upside on Moyza on a reduced contract as a back up.

Remember Chris Anderson brought a GF winning halfback with him.
It’s hard with Chad he kicks ok he tackles ok , players love him.....but with SJ back I would like to see anyone but Chad and Moylan as our halves. Oh crept Flanno jun.

See Chad was in commentary for SEN doing the 4pm game today. So a current player has time to be a commentator?

Does anyone else think this is getting ahead of himself?

Pretty sure you can only claim that allowance for 1 or 2 players though, so effectively, as long as you’ve got an old bloke or 2 in the team, you’re still using the exemption if Chad stays or goes. Whilst it was designed to enable you to pay extra to keep a loyal player, in reality that player never sees the extra dough, It doesn’t work in the way - essentially it’s extra cash onto the cap, that pretty much all clubs will be using. If you had 17 blokes who were all 10+ years, you wouldn’t get the extra cap space for them all.
