Why the need for a fence? He just has to stay 1.5m from him doesn't he? I can't believe that literally being hands on is all that important. How often do coaches need to actually touch players? Unless I'm mistaken and those not in the bubble are not allowed on the premises then I don't think it much matters.
Nope, there’s a fence. Anyone not in the bubble isn’t allowed inside it.

Pretty sure it’s the same for all clubs

Would make it incredibly hard to have any meaningful input into developing the halves.

Well I was wrong but I don't think it would make it incredibly hard to do that. Plenty of people are getting by working from home and using Zoom and such. Many companies now saying it is just as if not more effective than working in an office. I don't think it would have helped but I'm still doubtful about how much it hurt.

I’m not sure you can compare companies adapting to an online environment through platforms such as Zoom and the type of specialist coaching Johns would be providing. I guess the closest mainstream comparison is personal training, and I know quite a few who were forced to move online during lockdown. They found it much harder and admitted their clients weren’t getting as much out of it. Some even reduced their prices due to the lesser value they were offering.

I don't think that's a very good comparison because a lot of the value of a personal trainer would come from the motivational factor of being in someone's presence. And anyway, Johns is present, just a bit further away than usual. And if there are other coaches not in the bubble then it's a level playing field.

But Johns took his social distancing very seriously

If that was most of the value in PT then merkins would just find a gym buddy and save a shit load of cash. Either that or just pay someone $20 to yell at them “Give me one more you lazy piece of shit”. It’d beat the $80-100/hr a PT charges.
