If this isn't the best new band going around, then they should be.

Funeral is the album of 2005.

Discuss.

well for starters it was released in 2004, a year which saw stronger rock releases by wilco, pinback and many other bands. the album of 2005 (so far) would be the new qotsa release - lullabies to paralyze

the arcade fire? eh, i don't see what all the fuss is about. funeral is a good album, but it's certainly not great

Well, I know it was released internationally in September 2004, but the Aussie release was in February, so I am counting that.

YHF by Wilco was good, but I rate Funeral higher. And Lullabies to Paralyze isn't out yet, so I am not counting that. I only semi-rate Little Sister, so the full album better be good. Rated R good.

So, that still makes Funeral the album of 2005.

Funeral was already rated album of 04 by many critics though.

Lullabies to Paralyze has been on the net for ages, so yeh.

Wilco's YHF is like, 30 thousand times better than Funeral, but unfortunatly it was released about three years ago, A Ghost Is Born was their 04 album, which also happens to be better than Funeral.

I like the album, don't get me wrong, it's just overrated and will probably get severe backlash, ala the strokes in 2001.
