I'm converted, would rather see a mix of SL/NRL and international teams but I've really enjoyed the speed and format of the games and the crowd looks great fun.

Is there a reason the event isn't going after dark? I would have thought a later start with last hour under lights would add to the spectacle?

The ground is smack bang in a suburban neighborhood and they were concerned about intoxicated league supporters running rampant. .. apparently yawnion fans dont drink and carry on , so they can have night games.

They were only selling 1 beer per person as well towards the end yesterday:lol: they're pretty much doing everything they can to stop people getting drunk

Loved every minute of the nines, but the nrl proper needs a video ref to ensure the correct decision is made.

f**k me there are some whinging twats in here

The referees made on the spot decisions and by and large got most of them right

There was no wrestling, the games were fast paced and played in good spirit
Some of the tries were just f**king mental, and a couple of bombed chances (Sharks and Raiders) could have been tries of the tournament

That was the best pre season event I've ever seen and it put forward a format that shit all over Union 7's from a great height.

Why the hell are you criticising it?

A-f**king-men.

I cant see a negatice here apart from a couple of injuries that could have happened in trials anyway. Crowd was great, TV audiences were good, the footy was great- what I really liked was how it managed to actually strike a good balance between attacking "festival" footy and and defence- it was telling how the best defensive team won in the end, and that their most crucial performance was an 8-0 shutout of the pre-tournament favourites.

I definitely agree with you, Manly was one of the teams that got shafted by a ref making a wrong call, but on the whole the whole event ran really well- don't change it!

The best pre-season tournament we have had in some time which sets up the 2014 NRL season. I think we may have gained some new fans this weekend and we as a code won.

People will criticise it because it wasn't perfect. Anything that could be better draws criticism, doesn't it?

I enjoyed what I saw but it could be a little better. And that should be the goal.

It was just a couple of good fun days of RL footy... I would have loved to see what the Raiders were capable of with Paps, Wighton, Edrick Lee, Brenko Lee and Milford in side

None the less, even the sides who didnt take it seriously played some entertaining footy

At the end of the day there were lot's of positives and a couple of points that could improve for me.....

Pros -

-good crowds
-broke the footy drought
-Much better than 7's
-plenty of points
-good exposure/media space etc
-played in good spirit, everyone had fun

cons -

-Some clubs didn't care as much....under strength squads, didn't bring coach, didn't seem to have thought about tactics/skills
-nobody seemed to care when they lost
-Some funny refereeing

The silver lining to the under strength squads was that we saw some new faces which is fun.

Sweet as.
