the really interesting thing was the video that accompanied the story in the SMH in which she lies through her teeth claiming similar 'atrocities' don't occur in other sports. AFL anyone? Soccer? Yawnion?

Ever heard of John Daly jacky? He plays golf. He also has a bit of a reputation.

Ive heard rumours of interesting behavior in the Womens change rooms at the tennis too.But I guess we'll never know for sure about that as I doubt a male reporter will ever be allowed access . :sarcasm:

Early on in my career, I approached a clothed Cronulla Sharks player about an upcoming representative match. Another, male, journalist was there, and we questioned him. Only when I walked away did the other reporter say something about his rudeness. I didn't know what he was talking about until I looked back to see the player starkers. I had been so focused on my notes and asking intelligent questions that I didn't notice him undoing his tie, shirt, shoes, socks and pants.

"Nor do third parties. I believe the cone of silence that used to protect players is no more. If we look at the circumstances surrounding the "outing" of boorish or violent behaviour this year there is a common thread. Third parties have quickly reported the incidents to the police before the club or managers can interfere.

Police were called to the Brett Stewart alleged attack by neighbours. A fellow clubber filmed Brett Seymour stumbling through a mall. Hospital staff contacted police in the Greg Bird assault case. Jason Taylor was caught on CCTV.

In this age of instant communication it is hard to cover up misdemeanours, but there has also been a cultural shift away from not dobbing in a high-profile athlete. I wonder if this because the footballers are no longer considered part of the general community, that being elevated to a status of super-hero, super-paid means they are, therefore, super-targeted?"

Bring back the cone of silence imo...

No one should ever have found out about Seymour being drunk, because it was a non story.

Big deal.

Most dykes wouldn't tune in if a bloke was getting his kit off.

Seriously who on here reads anything written by a women?

Anyone?

Magnay knows it so she has to go to the sensationalist route every time.

She can't get the big stories - the players have no respect for women writing about the sport.

League fans have no interest in women writing about the sport.

So this is the sad indictment upon her 'career'.

Pathetic to watch such a sad desperate bitch keep trawling out the same accusations time after time.

Speak for yourself. I want quality writing about footy, and don't care if a man or woman writes it. Quite frankly most league journalism is very poor - I doubt very much the newspapers put their ace reporters onto it. The sheer quality of the likes of Josh Massoud, Phil Rothfield and Dean Ritchie speaks volumes. Magnay is no great shakes as a journo but she is better than average compared to many of the hacks that write about league.

I do think she has a valid point about the boys club nature of footy reporting. Many of the reporters are more keen to bignote themselves about how they are great mates with some star player or other and how good their contacts are, rather than getting to the guts of a story. Look at Weidler and his wanking on last year about SBW.

I love the fact she feels the need to point out her questions were intelligent.
I loathe her.
