It makes sense and you know it. Your average Union fan over here always wanted a best of 3.

I agree Timbo, but it is annoying that they only wanted to change it after they had lost it.

Suncorp is roughly around 50k capacity not that hard to sell out when you think about it.

50k in Brisbane its not heartland rugby is it. I thought it was more RL.

On another slight topic. I still think its crap that there are 3 games instead of the 2 Bledisloe games now. When Aus held the cup for 4-5 years they didnt want a bar of it changing the format to 3 games. As soon as NZ gets it they think it was a fantastic idea.

I think you'll find that John O'Neill pushed for a 3 Test series while Australia actually held the Bledisloe Cup. There was talk in 2000 of a 3 Test series, but the Kiwis didn't want a bar of it.

The Bledisloe is a huge money maker over here and O'Neill knew that.

It always amazes me that the Bledisloe games sell out over in Aus. How big is the ground ?

The 8000 released to the public have sold out... the other allocations will be picked up eventually as the match approaches...

sometimes when they aren't picked up... more tickets are released to the public.

Copa,

Welcome back to Australia. Do you think that it is somehow inappropriate that rugby players, clubs, and supporters get an allocation?

No.

That's just the system they use.

They do have to PAY for them!

The 3 systems are interesting,

The Rugby system (Tests) allows active members of grassroots football equal access to those who pay for membership of say the S14 clubs.

The NRL system (GF) rewards season ticket holders of it's clubs who are prepared to purchase without knowing the combatants whilst nothing given to grassroots.

The AFL system (Finals/GF's) rewards members/season ticket holders of the competing clubs, whilst if you are active in the grassroots or a season ticket holder of a non-competing club you miss out.

Personally, I would rank the systems in that order too, ie: Of how many tickets actually make it to real fans and not just the Corporates... Rugby > NRL > AFL

The Rugby setup makes it easy to get a ticket if you are active in the rugby community, the NRL system makes it hard if you don't pre-purxhase but it is possible to score a ticket as they do release an allocation after the Prelims, the AFL system is just ridiculous & virtually impossible for anyone outside of the Corporates/Club, AFL & MCC Members

And its probably the best system ! I think the ARL should have use the same system in the ANZAC test and they would have got a full house .

Actually the ARU always wanted 3 games series, it was the NZRU who didn't.

All SANZAR nations must now play each other a minimum of 3 times per year due to the last News Limited deal.

Which is going to turn the Tri Nations into a bore fest, bringing in more nations particularly Argentina (who are gonna go broke soon if they don't get some financial help ASAP a pity considering they would probably roger us or England at the moment) or the Pacific Islands would of been a much better alternative.

I have no complaints about Arg joining the 3N comp. As they would be competitive but the PI team would get rogered much the same way Italy has in the 6N.
