Went to The Blues training run this morning at Kingscliffe Northern NSW which is about 12mins from sons house at Currumbin.....they looked very sharp on the paddock but nice and relaxed off it.....was lucky enough to catch up with all the boys and wish them well come Wednesday night.....as expected my wife and I had plenty of pics taken with Duges, Frizz and JDB so must thank all the players and in particular Laurie for making them available.....weather is glorious up here at present so perfect for the boys to have a great hit out before crossing the border......cmon NSW its our time now

Qld regained the momentum and confidence factors in a big way by turning it around and winning game 2. Ecpect a big game from Munster he's a natural and fearless.
Blue thru snd thru but not feeling too confident - think we'll be seeing elated blokes on maroon jumpers for the nth time come FT Wed night at the cauldron.

Dragons stars named in NSW Origin extended training squad

Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler has announced his extended squad to take part in a training camp at the soon-to-open NSWRL Centre of Excellence on Friday 14 December.

Fittler has named 32 players in the squad, including the 19 players he used over three games who won the 2018 State of Origin series to return the Shield home for the first time since 2014.

Other players who have been named in the extended squad include Parramatta Eels winger Blake Ferguson, Newcastle Knights halfback Mitchell Pearce, South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Cameron Murray and Brisbane Broncos forward Tevita Pangai Junior.

"For most of them it will be the first time we've seen them since after the series," Fittler said.

"It puts a full-stop on finalising the year and getting their feedback from this year's series, and also allows us an opportunity to look ahead for our defence of the Shield in 2019.

"It's always beneficial to get them to spend time together. We won't be training but having them around each other will only further strengthen the bond they formed this year."

An emerging NSW Blues squad is still in the process of being finalised and will be announced in the near future for a training camp on Thursday 13 December.

Ouch...No Dugan but Fergi......Elite fullback or even centre money....pffftttt Not anymore. However I will admit his games at Origin he did hold his own.with a boring coach game plan..but enjoy paying him the big bucks Sharkies for never playing a full season and lucky to play a full game without looking injured.
But are we still on the Aaron Woods train..Seriously. It shows me how prop stocks in NSW just like halfbacks are widdling away to very little.

Yes I understand, after poor form in late 2016 and unnecessarily long term. Could have been a 2 year deal with an option in favour of the Club given the past history of these two players. Now we're stuck with them both.

Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler has reminded the game's rising stars a Blues jumper is a possibility in 2019 after naming his Emerging Blues squad to take part in a training camp at the soon-to-open Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Thursday 13 December.

Fittler named a 23-man squad which includes rising stars on the cusp of NSW selection for State of Origin and others who have been identified as potential players for the future. Last year's squad saw Nathan Cleary, Angus Crichton and Latrell Mitchell graduate to play for the Blues in 2018.

It's the second group of players that Fittler has picked in the past few days. The extended Origin train-on squad named on Friday (23 November) will come together at the CoE on Friday 14 December.

"The majority of players named are young, have stood out in their age groups and representative teams and had a big influence, and any time they make these types of squads is important," Fittler said.

"We're giving time to meet these players and while we don't have time to train it's very important to get to know them for the future plans of NSW."

The squad includes Rugby League Players Association Rookie of the Year Victor Radley (Sydney Roosters), Dally M Halfback of The Year Luke Brooks (Wests Tigers), rookie prop Payne Haas (Brisbane Broncos) and centre Jesse Ramien (Newcastle Knights).

Frizell wants WA fans to back Blues in Perth Origin

NSW Blues forward Tyson Frizell knows next year's historic State of Origin venture into Perth will be a moment to savour. What he's not sure of is which team neutral fans will get behind.

Since 1990, nine Holden State of Origin matches have been played on neutral territory in Melbourne but the crowd support has been anything but 50/50.

Whether it was the presence of so many Melbourne Storm stars in the Maroons side, or simply a distaste for all things NSW, the "neutrals" in the southern capital have thrown their support behind Queensland.

When league's showpiece heads to Perth on June 23, 2019, Frizell is hoping the defending Origin champions can win over the crowd and potentially wrap up the series.

"If we can start well and win the first game [in Brisbane] then we'll need a lot of NSW fans over there in Perth to get behind us and get us over the line,” Frizell told NRL.com.

"It's a sensational stadium in Perth but we don't know what to expect from the fans.

"There will be lots of people watching Origin for the first time so hopefully, we can convert them into Blues fans. Origin is a game like no other and Perth fans will be looking forward to it.

"We'll need lots of our NSW fans to travel over as well and make a weekend of it and give us a lift."

With the series opener in Brisbane and game two in Perth, the task of becoming the first NSW team to win back-to-back series since 2005 is a daunting one, but Frizell is adamant the Blues will be ready.

"It feels a long way off but planning has started already and Brad Fittler has named a 32-man squad for a camp in December," Frizell said.

"He'll be putting a lot of thought into it already and all the boys are excited about trying to defend the title.

“We had a very young squad this year and all those guys want to be part of it again.”

Fittler's men need look no further than the Maroons in 2009 and 2012 for evidence that the reigning champs can defend their title despite playing the first two games away from home.

In 2009, Darren Lockyer's Maroons took out the first match in Melbourne and game two in Sydney to wrap up a fourth series win in a row.

Three years later, Queensland again won the opener in Melbourne but then lost the second match in Sydney before returning home to Suncorp Stadium to win the decider.
