After visiting Hawaii and particularly Waikiki where there are a large number of Japanese tourists, I found them to be some of the worst I've come across. Whether it's lack of understanding or just plain arrogance, they are pushy and elitist to the extreme. They just seem to think they are better than everyone else and ignore all directions from non Japanese. They talk when they shouldn't, take photos when they aren't allowed, walk across roads when they aren't supposed to, consistently risking their own lives and stopping traffic in the process.
They push into lines, step into elevators when others are trying to get out and generally just do whatever they feel like.
The lowlight for me was a Japanese guy walking around the Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor in a shirt that had the Japanese flag on it and the words "you will never beat us".
Thankfully, you don't see them at mealtime unless you eat in a Japanese restaurant (you'd think they'd like to try local food for something different when traveling, but no.) and they only seem interested in shopping and the top 3 attractions anywhere they travel. Drive 5 minutes out of Waikiki and you don't see them, even though the North shore of Oahu is IMO the best part of the island with pristine beaches, they don't get out of the tour buses as they drive through there. They are too busy busting a gut to get back to the duty free to appreciate the best parts of the island.
