Rabbitohs Help ‘Close the Gap’

The official NRL ‘Close the Gap’ round will take place when the Rabbitohs take on the Eels next Monday night at ANZ Stadium. Close the Gap round brings the game’s focus on shortening the life expectancy gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.

The NRL has a series of programs that seek to Close the Gap by improving Indigenous health, and one of the key determinants of health: education. These programs have been introduced in communities within NRL club catchment areas, and funded through proceeds from the first Indigenous All Stars representative match.

The Close the Gap coalition has worked closely with the NRL to plan the round, which will include:

• Screening of the Close the Gap campaign video at all grounds during half time at games
• Invitations for fans at the grounds and watching broadcasts to pledge their support for the campaign on our website
• Mention of the Close the Gap campaign in television broadcasts of all games
• Media and online promotion of the round and Close the Gap campaign

All of Souths Cares programs are developed around the Close the Gap initiative. The focus is to offer our programs to the Indigenous community without separating them from the herd. South’s Cares is passionate about social inclusion and believe that the only way to promote “Closing the Gap” is by promoting social inclusion and encouraging everyone to take the journey together.

True,I remember the lead up to our "last match" in the NRL in 1999 on the eve of our expulsion, Denis Cockgerald and Telegraph had got their "heads" together to come up with stories like "Come watch South Sydney play, you will never see them again" Fuggin morons.

Well as Shane Richardson is our clubs CEO then nothing surprises me.
After all he did his best to stop us from being re-admitted into the NRL.

5% discount for members ?
Considering the prices they charge then it wouldn't mean that much of a savings.

The irony.

Very ironic indeed.

I still have not bought that newspaper since but things like this happening is probably a good sign of how much times have changed. The football cycle will continue to turn but this time we will not miss out and only then will I maybe, be able to forget about what Murdoch and his co conspirators did against us.

Go get em Rabbits!
