The Demise of the ATM?

Set your tap and go limit to 100 bucks without a pin and also set your phone bank app up so you get a loud notification which alerts you to a purchase. My notification is nearly instant after a transaction. If it wasn't you then the app can block it straight away. If your quick the most you'll lose is 100 bucks.
My wallet also has a gps tracker that my missus can track as well as an explosive device that can be remotely detonated from my missus phone....big enough to blow a man's leg off. Just be careful that your not having an affair.
(Slight exaggeration for a laugh)
Here's your laugh. 😄

"Compelling evidence shows why widespread closures of bank branches is justified".

IMG_20230704_140439_HDR[1].jpgIMG_20230704_140201[1].jpg

Both images were taken at approximately 2.00 pm on Tuesday 4 July. The CBA branch is in Dandenong Armada Plaza. Of course nobody uses in-branch bank services any more. LIKE HELL! And this was a quiet day!

The previous attempt to take these pictures was a laugh. The Wilson security clown on the day (not the one in the first picture on the right) attempted to grab my mobile from me in a 10 second tug o war. I said to him "Do you like your job? Because tomorrow you won't have one!" He let go of the phone and demanded I delete any photos I took. Well that never happened as I didn't get a chance to. And it is obvious that I wasn't in the confines of the bank.

Off I go to Dandenong Police to discuss the legality of what happened and spoke to a Senior Constable. He advised me that the security clown had no right to do what he did and suggested I contact them if it happens again. Geez I love stirring shit!

The Commonwealth bank in our centre is like that to, lines to see a customer service officer or staff just about everyday of the week, the only thing is our branch is the size of a shoe box compared to the photos you posted.

The ANZ about 40 mtrs away is like a Taj Mahal, plenty of space and always lots of staff on.

@thelongelizard - Was the security guard fat ? They all seem to be fat.
He was a bit chubby.

The funniest security "guard" I've seen is the one at the Dandenong Hub, an arcade adjacent to the plaza. He hobbles around with a f**king walking stick!

I'll see if I can get a pic of him. You'll all crack up! 😄

I hear that ATM is indeed not in demise just no one wants that sort thing on their transaction records and cash is now hard to come by.

my local petrol station had a bank machine so free to use for most but then repainted and rebranded so fees could apply, makes it not worthwhile taking small amounts of cash just pull out a few hundred every time to make the fee worthwhile

Its a bit like if you are out and see a nice looking cafe but there are no menus on display either on a window or near the entry door, i want to be able to see whether the place has something i would be interested in eating before i go in so if there is no menu you can browse within sight i just go somewhere else.

That seems to be a localised thing, no one in Perth does it yet Ive seen many cafes and restaurants in other cities. Im used to walking in, sitting down, looking at the menu and walking out lol

Short of not having a phone with service which as a traveler you may well not have, what is the actual detriment of a soft menu as opposed to a physical one?

Speaking of cash, yesterday this elderly woman walked into the shop and had a huge wad of $50 notes and asked us whether we could change them to $100 , we just told her to go to one of the many banks in the centre. Then later in the day a guy came in and bought a 2 litre cask of wine, he pulled the money out his back pack and had one of those large takeaway containers chock full of $50 notes all the way to the top, i couldn't believe what i was seeing, i always carry a bit of cash on me but thought if this guy loses that it would be quite a few thousand dollars.

Just the experience, maybe showing my age but sharing discussion of dishes on the menu and looking at it together was part of the social experience. Now everyone staring at their phones, like that doesnt happen enough!

hahaha not wrong man
at least my favourite chinese restaurant has the hard menu, but i want the take away. But i suppose if they don't deliver, that;s why they do it now i guess. Those who deliver i think still have the take away menus.

Most places that deliver now use UBER eats or other delivery services like that so the menu is on line or on your phone for that. After seeing how the food bounces around on the back of the bikes i choose not to order from places that use them ( which are a lot ) , there are few places near where i live that have their own delivery services but they are becoming very rare.

Since this thread has started I've used an atm machine...gottcha ha ha, four times, once to actually deposit after a big pokie win.
I don't use atm machine..sorry can't help myself, instead if I need cash to tip the lawn mower guy or my massage therapist :) I just get out up to 200 bucks when I'm at Woolies and food shopping.

When you're tipping your massage therapist, are you also leaving another kind of deposit??!!
