I played in my late teens-early twenties and was lucky enough to earn a couple of rep jerseys and win a few premierships with some good mates. U18's, 2 first grade and 1 in reserve grade, i loved my time playing. Unfortunately it isn't a big competition here and i lost interest (in the league but not the game)
I started on a wing when i got to seniors, then played mostly in the centres or back row but filled in almost anywhere and everywhere when needed.
I have nothing but respect for what any player at NRL or even state league level has achieved. It's a tough game to play at any level but towards the top i can't even imagine how hard it must be.

I play a bit of Australian rules now, it's a lot easier physically and i really enjoy being one of a few people who actually know how to tackle lol

Play with or against anyone that made the NRL?

Without trying to sound like a yesterday's hero, they truly are.

Not just on the field to.

One of my favourite memories came after a game on the bus ride home. We had just won a semi to put us into a grand final. We were all in high spirits. It was just on sunset and it was one of those hot days where the sun turns the sky orange for a few minutes just before sunset and gives everything an orange tint. Just at that moment that song Forever Young' came on the radio and all the boys were singing along and it was just perfect. Trying to not sound super cheesy but those boys will always remain forever young thanks to that memory, especially since we've lost a couple along the way.
I feel sorry for blokes that don't get to experience those trips away

We had a midseason bye one year and decided as a group that we'd get together and train on the Sunday morning. Only problem was that the captain was having his stag party on the Saturday and everyone was going to that. It was originally intended to be an afternoon event, maybe evening at a push.
Things got a bit out of hand as we were all having a great time together and i can remember being in a cab the next morning with a couple of the lads, still nursing a roadie each that we managed to sneak out of the venue, on our way to the ground. We weren't the only ones either.
Nobody had their boots, nobody even had shorts, we'd all arrived from town with a handful having gone there earlier for an hour kip but there we were on a Sunday morning, running through a few structures and set plays.
Maybe we were under delusions due to the drinks but it seemed a really sharp training session.
Some of the WAG's came down and threw some breakfast on the BBQ for us to have after. Easily one of my favourite footy memories.

Glad that dud Keary doesn't play for us anymore. He's total shit.
I've been telling all my mates that Keary is shit. Little bastard is making me look silly. Is it just a change of scenery or did Madge really stifle him so much that he was less than half the player he could have been with us?

It's not like Keary was always bad for us. Maybe last year wasn't his best season, but our forward pack didn't go all that good last year, and halves usually do better behind a good pack of forwards.

I always had the feeling that maguire liked keary. He groomed him for a long time, he Even planned for Sutton to move to the forwards to fit in keary Even though Sutton had a great 2013 ah 5-8th and went within a whisker of playing origin.
Keary had so much off field drama last year with the crowe stuff. People say he was out of line but I think he showed great strength of character to stand up to someone as powerful as Crowe in the defence of younger players. Also there was rumblings that keary wasn't being payed and tried to sit out a game just before kick off, only for maguire to convince him.
I get the feeling their will be huge off-field problems this year. It seems like the players maguire wanted to keep were forced out, and maguire is having problems with the twins who are like the owners sons.
If Maguire and richo move on the twins their might be consequences with Crowe and Sam

He came in with such promise. I'll never forget his game against the Titans in his first year. I really thought he be a star for us. He was huge in getting us into the GF and set up the first try in the win, but 2015 and 16 did almost nothing. Now he's kicking arse for the enemy. Very frustrating.

Keary had a giant CANCER scare at Sths----the cancer strain is called "madge."

It's a very dangerous cancer which usually affects backline players rather than head-down,arse-up forwards!!

It is not terminal though----there are about 15 doctors[coaches]out there that can save you & turn things around.

These Drs don't usually wear blinkers!!!

For me it's starting to look like it was just better for him to move on from Souths. It doesn't seem like the 2014 squad stayed a squad after the premiership. Maybe maguire's fantastic coaching strategies made everyone hate each other?

Agreed. I won't forget that game either. He fended off Isaac Luke for his first try.

It seems that creative players come to Souths, get homadgenised, go backwards, get discarded by Souths and then improve at their new club.

Because we play boring rugby. When I commented last year Madge never has a plan b and it was time for a change I was hounded and berated for it.
Now we lose the opening game in foul conditions and a truck full of bad luck and Madge is firmly on the list with the people doing the berating.
