Fact : we made the preliminary final last season beating both the Grand Final contestants the year prior away from home. Bennett could have quit. He hasn't and I doubt he will. He has based his entire career on asking his players to stand tall against adversity. This season has been a nightmare of injury and off field distractions. What exactly do you expect Wayne does about all of that? He is not Dr Phil.

Fact- Wayne Bennett is the most successful coach in League history. I can think of no better man to be the coach of our footy team at this point in time. I'm glad he's there.

Well, it's a fact that he had them up for the game today. It took a lot of stupid to lose it.

Surely not even the most obsessive and tedious Bennett haters could blame him for this one. Not only did he have them up which I thought was impossible, he mapped out a perfect game that would have won us that if Gidley could kick that conversion.

I will admit straight up I'm a big Wayne fan. Still am despite the crap we've dished up this year (for various reasons). He's obviously very intelligent and a great man-manager who knows how to get through to his players on a personal level. However he's still human, and tactically and team selection wise he still leaves us scratching our heads every now and again like every coach does.

As for his past record with us in 2012 and last year, I still think he didn't quite realise how far away we were from competing with the really top teams on a regular basis when he first signed on. Sure we did ok under Stone by throwing the ball around and turning up big time one week and then falling to pieces the next, but we were never in danger of winning a GF in those years. Wayne effectively had to break the whole squad down and build it back up again in order to threaten the top teams. Arguably we were almost there at the end of last year, but then Bedsy retired (who was a huge reason for our finals run last year) and then a few other squad issues mean we are where we are now.

I still think he has the capability to drag us out of this hole the club has got itself in. Honestly at least of half of it simply comes down to the quality of our squad, we all know that and can see it. If Wayne can convince some quality forwards to sign on for next year that's half the battle won. Surely he still has the clout that when he picks up the phone to approach a player that player listens. He's also clearly emotionally invested enough in the club that he's not just going to give up and walk away. Despite what the media brings up every time they get a chance about how his future here is 'in doubt' I'm confident he'll be here at least next year, and maybe a year or two after that if he feels like he has unfinished business and a squad that is going places.

They've put Anthony Griffin in as head coach and you want to argue they are the best run club in the NRL???? Talk about mediocrity.

And what's the Broncos excuse then??? Still in a rebuilding phase???

Your club should finish top four every year with the facilities, juniors, access to second tier comp, ridiculous draw advantage, massive supporter base, ave 30K plus home crowd etc etc.

What about the ability to recruit nearly any player you want.

1 top four finish since 2006. And you think we're a rabble.

Point the finger at your own club. They're under achieving massively.

Broncos need to move on from Bennett once and for all. I don't expect Brisbane supporters to understand that though. They're just delaying the inevitable. Wayne can't coach forever.

I think you'll find the majority of Broncos fans including myself don't want him back as head coach, more as a football operations manager to nurture someone like Kevin Walters into the role, someone who understands the culture of the club and the pressure associated with playing at the club

Only problem with that Is that I don't think Wayne would fit in well to a football operations role. He's made it very obvious that his favourite part of coaching is the one on one time with the players at training and that and nurturing their development. He loves coaching. It's the only reason he's still doing it now when he and his family would be set up for life.

Also trust me when I say that Walters would need a lot of nurturing before he's ready to coach FG. He's our halves coach at the moment, and you can actually see the immediate decline in our halves and their play (especially Roberts) since he came on board. The Broncos haves are a huge issue as it is.

IMO if Bennett went back to Brisbane he'd still want to be heavily involved in the coaching side of things and that isn't helping the club move on from him at all. They obviously need a new coach, but I don't think any combination of Bennett or Walters is the answer as an outsider looking in.

Totally agree here.

I'll be very surprised if he leaves. He won't leave us in the lurch and will see out his current contract at the very least, imo.

Is that due to WESTS involvement Perverse? The NRL would be loathe to have Bennett leave this club. I doubt they will allow him to just leave without a fight. Nothing stopping them exercising discretion over his contract ie. give him an incentive post career to stay on. Say they agree to let him be an administrator or chief advisor guaranteed after he retires as a coach . Also the fact we have Queensland's League Godfather in NSW is a major middle finger to the arrogant QRL. The fact they could stop him going back to Brisbane and piss them off completely is all the reasons they need to ensure he stays as our boss.
